On Tuesday, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) said that a comprehensive amnesty bill would have helped America contain the Ebola epidemic in Africa.

Durbin, a member of the Senate's Gang of Eight that wrote the immigration reform bill, said during a Senate hearing on Ebola that the Senate's amnesty bill would have even allowed doctors in the United States to travel to Africa to combat Ebola "without jeopardizing their immigration status."

Merely deporting the virus-carrying illegals would do little good. Such an action would be akin to giving a homeless man a shave, a haircut, and a new pair of underwear; it only temporarily alleviates the problem. Just as the most reliable way to kill off cancer is to eliminate the tainted body part, the literal and metaphorical cancer the illegals bring to the American population can only be killed by exterminating the source.
