Hello. Hello!. Hello!!! HELLO!!!!!! WHERE THE HELL IS THE NATIONWIDE OUTRAGE THAT THE pRESIDENT IS SENDING 3,000 AMERICAN SOLDIERS TO WEST AFRICA TO FIGHT EBOLA? When do we get to the last straw? I was there a long time ago, but is this newest outrageous outrage not enough to waken a sleeping giant to the destruction of our country that is being perpetrated from the Oval Office? The healthcare system, the VA system, the IRS, Fast and Furious, Race Baiting Justice Department, flooding the nation with illegal aliens who are spreading disease throughout the country, using the military as an "alternative lifestyles" laboratory, bungling, humiliating foreign policy blunder after blunder, trading terrorists for traitors, the highest EVER number of people on foodstamps, record low workforce participation, golfing while Americans are being beheaded, drone strikes on American citizens, shrinking our military, betraying our allies, bowing to dictators, siding with Hamas AND NOW, AND NOW!!! EXPOSING OUR PRECIOUS TROOPS TO DEADLY DISEASE!!! ARE YOU NUTS? OR DO YOU JUST HATE AMERICA?
What?
Pardon any ignorance here but what are our armed forces going to do against a virus?
What do you think it is, if not that?
Medical Corps stuff would be about all I can think of.
3000 families that could be exposed.
Since when does it take an army to contain an epidemic?
Obama is a colossal idiot and perhaps the worst leader of AMY nation in history.
And, uh...whatever happened to the Peace Corps?
Is that what Vermont Lt is thinking, that we are going in to machine gun terrified women and children for international TV?
That guy is clearly ineligible for the NFL.
My thought/guess is that Obama and his cohorts are just using the African soldiers as a humanitarian ploy for a quick revision for deployment to other places which gives big bear Dempsey something to use for his postulating that ground forces (i.e. boots on the ground) might be needed in Syria and Iraqi. Obama should be impeached immediately for exposing troops to Ebola. I would hope and support the parents and other family members of such a military travesty to push for immediate action against all persons involved, even pseudo POTUSA Jarrett.
Call your congresscritters.
And DON’T be civil-—the time for civility is long gone.
Treat them the same way they’re treating us—no respect.
Tell them you think they are complicit in this administration’s waging BIOLOGICAL WARFARE against our children in the schools (with the illegal petri-dishes BenghaziBarrySoebarkah “ordered”) and against our brave men and women of the military.
I don’t give a SHIITE what anyone thinks of pure anger being directed towards the ones in office. They’ve been asking for it.
It’s PAST time they heard the visceral anger from their constituents. We’re sitting ducks, and I’m damned tired of it.
I agree with this. The outrage over this is disturbingly muted.
Put yourselves in the shoes of one of 3000 who have received this order. Put yourselves in the shoes of their wives, their kids, their parents and siblings.
We’re numb to madness, it seems.
Drag the b@st@rds out of D.C. and send them home? I’m in. When and where? Long past that time. Doesn’t even have to be violent. Just walk in, tell them their services are no longer needed, and to get gone. Go willingly or go kicking and screaming. Just go.
The Army is very much involved in disease, but that has nothing to do with sending 3,000 regulars into Ebola country just to serve as routine labor.
Obama doesn’t give a rat about our troops.
“Michael Hastings book, The Operators describes an Obama visit to Baghdad:
After the talk, out of earshot from the soldiers and diplomats, he starts to complain.
Hes asked to go out to take a few more pictures with soldiers and embassy staffers. Hes asked to sign copies of his book.
He didnt want to take pictures with any more soldiers; he was complaining about it, a State Department official tells me.
Look, I was excited to meet him. I wanted to like him. Lets just say the scales fell from my eyes after I did. These are people over here whove been fighting the war, or working every day for the war effort, and he didnt want to take fucking pictures with them?”
Thank you, didn’t realize...not from a service background so I didn’t think we got too closely involved.
Me too. It’s way past due.
I'm pretty sure the rules of engagement will prevent any of our troops from shooting the virus without specific authorization from Centcom.
I am no longer serving on active duty. But if I were, and was told I was being sent to this area, I would take my chances on a court martial.
Most people don’t know it, but a lot of history buffs know that the Army and disease go way back, and many people slap their heads and go ‘oh yeah’, when they are reminded of who our experts are, and who runs the labs for biological warfare.
Searching for cures and treatments and ways to avoid Sars and Ebola, and all kinds of things are all part of the duties of the Army and it’s laboratories.
While we have been involved in every Ebola outbreak, here is an example clipping mentioning the tropics.
The U.S. military has stationed uniformed scientists in the tropics for more than 100 years, and its active overseas laboratories have been in place for as long as 58 years. Military scientists live and work in the tropics to study the disease threats in naturally affected populations. Countermeasures and candidate solutions are studied through all phases of development including field testing. These military scientists serve as goodwill ambassadors, and contribute to developing health and science infrastructure in these tropical countries. Enduring relationships between tropical DoD facilities and ministries of health, international healthcare facilities, and local healthcare providers and researchers are of great value to the U.S. at a time when diseases such as SARS and avian influenza are potential global threats. The global MIDRP military presence provides a real-time early warning system in the identification and assessment of new and reemerging disease. Data from around the world is collected, analyzed, and immediately disseminated to military leadership and other agencies by the militarys DoD Global Emerging Infections Surveillance and Response System (DoD-GEIS) at the Armed Forces Health and Surveillance Center (AFHSC).
The MIDRPs capabilities include basic science (discovery and the knowledge base to develop technological approaches) pre-clinical product optimization, and advanced animal model development. Clinical trials expertise for early FDA Phase 1 testing of drugs and vaccines through large (e.g. 42,000 volunteers for hepatitis A vaccine, and 62,000 volunteers for Japanese encephalitis vaccine) pivotal Phase 3 trials in developing nations is an especially valuable asset of the MIDRP. The DoD also has high containment laboratories, pilot Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliant bioproduction facilities, and FDA regulatory expertise in the U.S. and in many international settings.”
