The suspect in the killing of a trooper and the critical wounding of another outside a rural barracks is a survivalist...
Eric Matthew Frein, 31, of Canadensis, Pa., is still armed with the .308-caliber rifle that he used to open fire on the barracks late Friday, State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan said at a news conference where he revealed the suspect's name.
Noonan called Frein "extremely dangerous."

He’s decided that he isn’t coming back. Chances are this isn’t going end well and Corporal Dickson won’t be the last fatality associated with this case.
We’ve been here before:

I’ve been on a number of similar little sojourns in the woods, but none so famous.
Who walks their dog in the woods 2 miles from a deadly ambush of police when the suspect is still at large?

Alternatively, who really thinks that some police officers, after one of their own gets shot, would prefer to establish some “anti-survivalist” meme favored by the Obama Administration?
right wing, tea party, christian, nra, capitalist, ..............
Yes, I agree if the facts of this case are as stated in the article, which I suspect they might be. Sounds like he tried to ditch his vehicle in a pond and then disappear in the nearby wilderness. But the pond wasn’t deep enough and the car was full of identifying information, LOL! Oops, a slight flaw in the old masterplan. What a numbnuts.
Pretty much. Cue panicked calls to 911 after duck hunters are sighted, etc.
“What is a survivalist?”
I was going to ask the same question. Why wouldn’t everyone who was interested in survival be considered a survivalist?
Relic from ‘70s and ‘80s. Believed Armageddon was imminent, so they were preparing for it, living out in the woods in camouflaged fall-out shelters with shot gun, canned goods, and macho looking military outfits, night black on faces. Armageddon is still imminent, of course, as it has been for centuries. But survivalism is out of fashion. Perhaps he’s gone retro and also listens to Disco.
Thanks for that info.
“I would want him to continue to survive to trial”...
From what I read, the “trial” is over, we’re just waiting for the execution. I would love to be the one who gets that opportunity, I’m guessing he won’t be surrendering.
“They found shell casings in his truck that match the shell casings from the scene”...........
My guess they will also find his fingerprints on those casing.

Who leaves their Social Security card laying around. Sounds a little fishy and I'm no conspiracy nut.
He, along with anyone else, is entitled to a trial and a vigorous and ethical defense. And a decent hanging.
Methinks however, he is not interested in being tried. Moreover, he must be hounded to ground and quickly. If the pressure lets up for just a day, he might find his way to a scene where he can commit the massacre that he has allegedly threatened.
I am more than a little irked that Colonel Noonan made the pronouncement on the day of the shootings that the public wasn’t in danger. There was NOTHING upon which to base that Pollyannish statement. It was pure horse manure - idiotic really, from a veteran lawman who knows better, but who has lost his instincts and become a politician.
The public was most definitely in danger and continues to be in danger until this goof is treed.
“Whatever this piece of crap is he isn’t very good at it. “
The guy would have to be more than stupid to leave that kind of evidence just lying around where it will obviously be found. It kind of makes one wonder if he is being framed.
The answer is: A person who blithely relies upon the premature pronouncement of the State Police Commissioner on the day of the shooting, when they don't know their asses from gopher holes and all is chaos, that there is no danger to the general public and that the shooter is no longer in the immediate area.
My dad worked as a guard in a maximum security prison in Pennsylvania. The man deserves a trial and scrutiny of evidence by his peers. If the guy does not want that, fair enough. He should drive straight to a reputable attorney and arrange to turn himself in, guilty or not guilty.
‘Dude is 31 and still living with mommy. Hell, he couldn't even survive in his own apartment.’
My old memory seems to recall a few failures to launch in recent years going berserk and killing innocents.
