The Islamic State (Isis) is without question a very brutal extremist group with origins in the insurgency of the United States occupation of Iraq. It has rapidly ascended to global attention by taking control of swaths of territory in western and northern Iraq, including Mosul and other major cities.
Based on my experience as an all-source analyst in Iraq during the organizations relative infancy, Isis cannot be defeated by bombs and bullets even as the fight is taken to Syria, even if it is conducted by non-Western forces with air support.
I believe that Isis is fueled precisely by the operational and tactical successes of European and American military force that would be and have been used to defeat them. I believe that Isis strategically feeds off the mistakes and vulnerabilities of the very democratic western states they decry. The Islamic States center of gravity is, in many ways, the United States, the United Kingdom and those aligned with them in the region.

I can only assume that this is appearing with the approval of US military authorities.
*shakes head
What does Hasan think?
...
Why is he allowed to make CO2?
Anything this retread puts in the Guardian is questionable at best.
Send some Chelsea Manning Hashtags. It seems to be the extent of western diplomacy nowadays.
Why, she is lovely. But it is a very tiny picture mind you.

I think we should just release Major Hasan and apologize to him for our insensitivity and cultural misunderstanding. And then give him plane fare to Iraq or Syria so he can join the jihadi group of his choice. It's only fair and he's been through so much. /s
Last point: Let ISIS set up a “state,” which will be a hellhole, thus discrediting their ideology.
Muslims have created nothing but hellhole dungheap states for 1400 years. Why should another one suddenly “discredit” their ideology?
Unless Manning is on board with “ISIS is not Islamic.”
CO2 is basic to carbonated beverages and plant growth.
While admittedly difficult, if you read through to the end you'll find that Chelsea advocates giving ISIS a state with defined borders and then "containing" them. I gather that is the preferred solution of the liberal nut jobs and jihadi lunatics who make up the Guardian's readership.
I guess the idea of defeating ISIS means giving them what they want.
Bloody brilliant, why didn’t I think of that?
Lets assume for a second that we have a prisoner, convicted of releasing classified information.
Wouldn’t said person be denied the ability to publish articles and op-eds, where he could possibly spread more classified information?
Then let Hasan make CO2 as he pushes up daisies
.... after he is tortured to root out
.... all his protectors in the Pentagon.
Chelsea Manning used to be Bradley Manning, a whistleblower that has been sentenced to 35 years in prison. More info at:

That was in the old army, back in the bad pre-0bama days when armies were used for bad things like fighting and winning wars. Today, armies are social service organizations established to fund and facilitate transgender lifestyles. Clearly, this freedom to opine is part of dear Chelsea's gender reassignment rehabilitation and reintegration.
Sounds an awful lot like “appeasement” to me. The liberal nut jobs cannot bring themselves to believe some people are evil and need killing.
I prefer my method of killing every last one of them.
I wish I could find it again, but I once saw a study on muslim states, as they progressed from zero percent muslim to some tipping point percentage...and how thinbgs changed from 5% muzzie to 10% muzzie, etc.
It was very enlightening, and very consistent across nations and historical time periods.
That ‘she’ used to be a ‘he’. Which would explain the picture. As I see it, the pic at the link is the most flattering to be found.
Thank you, Capt. Obvious. I was unaware of that - even though I posted his former name in the “author” line and the place he is being incarcerated.
