In most restaurants taking time off for being sick (as a cook) is basically verboten. I know, I lived it for 10+ years of my life.

I never understood the attitude, but it was prevalent.

I wonder how many healthcare workers are going to be willing to work Ebola cases. If they start getting infected like those in Africa I’d imagine many would say “no thanks”.

It is in hospitals too. Nurses who have coughs and runny noses are harassed into working too. In fact, every place I ever worked acted like colds and flu should just be ignored, and if you can't come to work - bring a note from a hospital or undertaker.
