Back in 1977 I was appointed as the USMC observer for a Marine being tried in an Okinawan court from “rolling” a drunk. (idiotic move on his part) IIRC, he got 2-3 years
Word was that if you wanted to survive that long in an Okinawa prison, you needed family to bring you extra food. Not sure if the Corps sent him “C-rats”... or if the State Dept got him transferred to Leavenworth.
