Listen to the most recent sales pitch: they believe they are avenging the killing of Muslims overseas by American forces, and avenging some “unexplained” prejudice we have against them here in the US. There’s a whole new mythology springing up to justify the jihad.
Americans and Brits who join ISIS are mentally deficient or have some other problems in the head. Islam attracts the gullible, the indigent, and the insane.
End the drone program and a lot of that hate would go away. I don’t want Obama picking off people by remote control any more than they do.
Moderate Muslims: yes they exist, usually they are born into Muslim families and are raised Islamic, but don’t take the Koran literally. (That’s the key difference.) But they’re not going to speak out or stand up to the radicals in the way you guys expect them to, because they don’t want to get killed or put their families at risk. Many of the moderates come to the US to get away from the madness.
Yes the moderates can be radicalized, or willing to cover up for somebody in their family who is. That’s the tricky part. This is why Islam should be treated more as a cult than a religion, because the “true believers” can be so easily radicalized. I have no idea how to solve that problem.
Many African Muslims are peaceful, which is why they are under attack by the Radicals who want to purge them out of existence. The difference with African Muslims is they have a symbolic interpretation of the Koran, not a literal one. The Radicals take the Koran literally and that’s why they are slaughtering African Muslims along with the rest of the infidels.
You have to understand the difference they see between “literal” ( = Radical) and “symbolic” ( = Moderate) in order to understand what happened in Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, etc. where Africans are slaughtering Africans. It’s really Arab Africans slaughtering Black Africans BECAUSE THEY ARE MODERATES. Maybe not to you & me, but that’s how they see it.
Yes to no more immigration of Muslims. Shut the doors, and let them become somebody else’s problem. Or maybe if they don’t have such an easy escape route, they will stay in their own countries and stand up to the Radicals.
