Like I said, Obama’s goal in the Middle East is not to end the fighting but to aid it. Obama thinks that the establishment of an Islamic caliphate is the only real solution for peace in the Middle East. That is what he means by long term solutions. Obama thinks that a caliphate can link Sunnis and Shiites and that would end the fighting and at the same time get rid of the various kingdoms, sheikdoms or whatever, in the Middle East.
To get there, Obama knows, that Israel must be eliminated because it separates Northern Africa from the Middle East.
Eva, while I think you’re focusing on the right dynamics with regard to Obama’s goals, I would like to tweak your conclusions a bit.
IMO his goal is to eliminate the United States from influencing world affairs. I am not convinced he prefers an Islamic Caliphate to achieve this. I think he’s more focused on simply destroying us economically and thus militarily. In as much as China and Russia figure in this effort as well, I’m not convinced he prefers unity of these groups. He may favor some form of coordination.
Ultimately I do think he wants Islam to heavily influence world affairs. I do think he’s enough of a realist to accept the Islamic sects won’t unify. They don’t need to for his goals to be met, the U. S. To be neutered.
Israel doesn’t really separate Africa from the Middle East. Arab and Islamic nations surround it for hundreds of miles in all directions..., well except on the West of course.
Eva, I was wrong abut Israel being the separator you attributed it too be. I had thought there was some land to it’s South, but that’s not true. Sorry about that.
