Milton Wolf should bring his tea party followers into Pat Roberts’ camp
kansascity.com ^ | 9/13/14 | Steve Rose

If Milton Wolf endorsed Pat Roberts after Wolf’s defeat in the Kansas Republican primary for U.S. Senate, I missed it. And if he has, it is the best kept secret in Kansas.

I’ve checked everywhere on the web, and it isn’t there. I called Wolf to confirm, but I did not get a response. So, I think it is safe to assume the tea party challenger has decided, at least for now, not to endorse the victor.

This is too bad because Wolf — who amazingly carried 41 percent of the statewide vote against 48 percent for longtime incumbent Roberts — could really put a spark in the Roberts campaign. Roberts badly needs it, and that could have national ramifications.

Wolf, a radiologist from Leawood, carried Johnson County, only by a few hundred votes, but that was a major coup. Roberts needs Johnson County badly in his race against independent Greg Orman. Wolf’s failure to endorse would be declaring neutrality in a race where Wolf’s endorsement should be a no-brainer.

Roberts’s ultra-conservative voting record and Wolf’s positions on issues are almost identical. Orman is all over the map with his positions.

If Wolf supporters decided to sit out that race, in retribution for what some say was a nasty campaign, that could put Roberts in serious trouble.

Why is that amazing? Any time any politician begins to consider their office an entitlement rather than something they have to earn then the electorate is going to show their displeasure.

Roberts is an Establishment RINO.

Do not vote for him.

The GOP sewer needs to be flushed out!

No democrat is better than a Republican. The senate must become Republican.

Would Roberts have endorsed Wolf, if the tables were turned? Where does Roberts stand on Thad Cochran? Does he endorse and support that weasel scrotum?

Roberts is part of the gop establishment and as such is very suspect.

Has the writer asked the Roberts campaign if they have asked for an endorsement?

These types always want to blame the Tea Party guy even when their own guy won the primary. Pathetic.

Good! Burn the GOP-E to the ground!

“The senate must become Republican.”

Why? If you have a gop senate filled with Lindsey Grahams, John McCains and Thad Cochrans, how will that be noticeably different?

“Would Roberts have endorsed Wolf, if the tables were turned?”

I think we all know that answer to THAT question. See Lisa Murkowski, Arlen Specter, Charlie Crist and Dede Scozzafava for examples.

“The GOP sewer needs to be flushed out!”

And Harry Reed is just the man we need to do it.

The decaffeinated Tea Party is licking wounds now. They may be able to withhold enough votes to elect enough democrats to deny republicans and empower Harry Reid. "If your eye offends you, pluck it out." Go down with the ship. My way or the highway. etc, etc

Clinging to self righteous dogma will not solve our problems. The fact there are Republicans that can be labeled RINOS does not meant they are worse than any of the Democrats.

Total success of absolute pure conservative values is not really an option.

Politics is the art of the possible.

No, of course not! It’s McCain, Graham and Cochran we need to do the job! Right? Right?

If Dingy Harry stays in power, it is the fault of the damnable gop establishment!

You have nailed it.

I say, let Pat Roberts and other establishment RINO’s try to win with Muffy and Biff from the Country Club going door to door.

Wolf should certainly endorse Roberts, but I’m not sure that he knows enough about politics to understand that he should do this. Steve Rose is an idiot. He is amazed by the votes that Wolf got, but ecstatic about the support that Orman is getting. Both have the same cause, dissatisfaction with Roberts’ performance and attitude as our Senator.

Roberts is no RINO, those who say that are either profoundly ignorant or willingly doing whatever they can to advance the Democrat agenda. But, he is more anchored to Washington than the monuments on the Mall. What is telling is that his attitude and behavior don’t seem to have changed much since the primary and the Orman surge. If he doesn’t do something soon, he will lose.

I voted for Wolf in the primary, I will vote for Roberts in the General. I will encourage everyone that I know to support Roberts. We do not need a Democrat in the Senate from Kansas and certainly not one who will not admit what he is.

Roberts hadn’t lived in KS for decades. Why should he represent the voters in KS?

Harry Reid and the Democrats need to be flushed out. Letting Democrats win elections has proved to be far worse than voting for RINOs since 2006. It's a strategy that gave us Obamacare and a President incapable of or unwilling to defend the country or the Constitution.
