Duh! An American is required by law to show their identification credentials when asked by a LEO. Refusal results in arrest.
“Duh! An American is required by law to show their identification credentials when asked by a LEO. Refusal results in arrest.”
That is how I understand the law.
This whole situation may be explained as simply as, the police officers were walking down the street asking everyone for their identification credentials, and Watts was the only person to refuse and that’s why she ended up in the police car wearing handcuffs.
My understanding is you have to identify yourself,as in, state your name and where you are from. I don’t think you have to show any credentials because we don’t have laws requiring us to carry papers.
“Duh! An American is required by law to show their identification credentials when asked by a LEO. Refusal results in arrest.”
Wrong.
Not true at all. Only if the officer suspects you of a crime. Kissing, to my knowledge, is not a crime.
No. Absolutely not. We are not required to carry papers. A drivers license is only necessary when driving. You must give your name if asked.
'How is that different from the policies of Nazi Germany?', he mused.
Non-Americans, however, don't have to provide any credentials, FOR ANYTHING.
Uh Duh no you are not required to show your papers on demand. If you will read the article the woman was not arrested. The cops have not right to stop and detain people for no good reason. Its called the 4th amendment.
Are you crazy???? No they are not!!!
Hummm...citation or statute please...
I guarantee you if I am am going about my business doing nothing wrong or suspicious and a cop randomly asks me for my "identification credentials"
My response would be to give him my name and politely tell him to KMA...
Why post on a conservative site?
your last sentence is true. the preceding one isn't.
