U.S. Army sociologists are worried that a lack of black officers leading its combat troops will have detrimental effect on minorities and lead to fewer black officers in top leadership posts.

Affirmative Action on the battlefield should work out almost as well as it does when influencing our choice of elected officials.
When I was an assistant OSO (Officer Selection Officer) in Phoenix, while awaiting my Fleet Replacement Squadron class to begin, I was given the task of getting a foothold in the black lawyers association aboard ASU. The head of the department was very honest when he discussed with me the difficulties in recruiting young blacks for officer slots in the military. He said that with all of the corporations that are actively recruiting young black professionals, it is no wonder that the majority take high-dollar jobs as opposed to the promise of long nights, excessive heat, sand fleas and the idea of nasty people shooting at you to join the Corps. He was very pro-military and I enjoyed speaking with him and giving me that insight so as to better tailor our approach to recruiting.
It takes a special breed of man and woman to join the military, especially the officer corps. The first requirement is selflessness and many blacks are simply not brought up to embrace that philosophy. Some are and do quite well, but today's youth are simply too narcissistic to join.
The REAL problem with the Army and ALL of the services is that we have a bunch of cowardly, a$$ kissing, lapdogs at the top, and I can guarantee that it is getting our people killed. If we ever get a legitimate president again, they need to fix that immediately - 12:01 on Inauguration Day would not be soon enough!
I was discussing the notion of diversity with a progressive the other day. I asked him: “When you go in for your back surgery, do you want the smartest guy in the class cutting within millimeters of your spinal cord or the guy they let in to make the class diverse?” He said I was racially insensitive in response, so guess I won that one.
No guessing at all. . .you DID win that one. Hands down.
We need a diversity of Army sociologists, then. If they all agree then there is no diversity.

That should be the basis for Army diversity, not this social engineering petri dish crap.
If you really want to destroy a military then debase the junior officer corps and the senior enlisted ranks. These folks are the key to an effective military.
Good, well trained soldiers will always fail with indecisive and stupid leadership. Bad senior leadership (e.g. on the order of Hitler and his gang) will cost you greatly but the middle ranks can make that loss very hard on an enemy. Damaging the middle ranks means a walkover for your enemy.
I’d bet that Sun Tzu never had sociologists in his army.
The only color that should matter is GREEN. We need to have only the BEST leading, regardless of color, B.S. like this is going to get a lot of brave men KILLED!

Official Army demographics data doesn’t give a direct numbers, but has enough data calculate on a spreadsheet:
Combat Units - Enlisted
White: 73%
Black: 12%
Hispanic: 13%
Asian and Other: 2%
The Army presents the data as 49% of all whites are in combat roles, 22% of the blacks, 39% of the Hispanics, and 33% of the Asians.
