Quick, someone check hell see if it has frozen over...
Gee..Charlie Rose is a moron...
Charlie Rose (and Tom Brokaw) both lost whatever credibility they might have had left when they admitted they knew very little about Barack Obama at the end of the 2008 presidential campaign.
How anyone could ever take either of them seriously about anything after that is completely amazing.
>> Gee - the little atheist guy actually almost gets it.
Well said.
I remember that event...
The only thing they knew that counted is BO was black....
All those other things important to make a knowledgable voting decision was a moot point....
Voting against an empty suit was racist...
Don’t get too overwhelmed by the “Boot Scrapings” guy ... even a blind pig finds an acorn occasionally.
Our Republican leaders should learn from this.
This is satire - right?
the trend is our friend.
no. he doesn’t get it.
what he does get is that he knows christians won’t kill him for being an atheist. he lives in a christian country and can make fun of them when he so choosess, and none of them issue fatwas against him and try to kidnap him and behead him.
this is what maher gets. he can keep doing what he does in a christian country.
The global existential threat of true Islam is so real that when someone recognizes and expresses repeatedly that reality, it matters not what he says about me personally. We can agree to disagree about my personal beliefs, as long as you help me kill the lunatic trying to murder my family.
Maher has learned about the term a true elitist like Rose cannot. The term is ‘useful idiot’. The true elites never think any of this will come home to them. Maher is beginning to see it.
It’s. Not the first time Maher has shown he can be truly objective and put aside his prejudices. Like Hitchens, we should be praying for him.
Maher could publicly eviscerate obama and Rose and I'd still detest the mealy-mouthed asshole.
This is one of those times.
It's not the first time Maher has said something that makes conservative sense, and listening to him closely over the years, I've come to realize that he has an acute sense of just when to say those things.
I don't believe he means a damned word of it, though.
He's just another liberal entertainer that has the skills to know in which direction to turn when the wind blows.
Yeah, his ratings dropped.
.... and invokes George W. Bush’s the-soft-bigotry-of-low-expectations terminology, no less, ....
Kudos to Bill Maher for getting this right. But, because
Maher is who he is prepare yourself for the next outrageous
thing out of his mouth that garners national attention.
Let the countdown begin,......10..9..8..7............!
It is a VERY good question.
What SHOULD we do about Islam?
ONE: I am absolutely and unequivocally against any form of Sharia law. When Oklahoma had a referendum to prohibit in their state, and a US Judge found it Unconstitutional, I could not believe it! Using a RELIGION to impose governmental control and rule of law is Unconstitutional? War is peace! We have always been at war with Eastasia. But still, this fight needs to be fought now. No way should any single case of Sharia law get a foothold in this Republic. Attempts to do so should be punishable.
TWO: Never, ever give in to their cultural sensitivities. This is the United States. We love pork, pigs are cute, and we LOVE our dogs. We went through alcohol prohibition and it was a flat out failure. Women in bikinis and hot pants is an American ideal. If you demand that there are no pigs, pork products, including the heavenly smell of bacon, doggies, women looking hot and a cold beer on a hot day, then go back to your medieval hellhole and leave us alone!
THREE: Burkas should be made illegal in schools and government offices. If you want to wear that crap on your own time, knock yourself out, but not as a representative of the United States of America.
WTF has gotten in to Maher..
While that is true, what Maher's atheism doesn't provide is any coherent preconditions for condemning anything, including Islam. Although he wouldn't admit it, he's borrowing from the Christian theistic worldview when he condemns "illiberal beliefs that are held by vast numbers of Muslim people." Atheistic philosophy by definition precludes the basis for any such moral claim.
Cordially,
