I was born a Hindu and my parents enrolled me in a school run by Christian priests and nuns. Because it was the best school in town. I never ever recall any classes based on any religion. It was all very secular. Not Christian, not Hindu, or any other religion. We had mostly Hindu students and also Zoroastrian, Christian, and Muslim.
Indonesia is a predominantly Muslim country. So is Pakistan. Muslim countries emphasize religious education. It may not be a formal Madrassa but Islam will always be a factor. Which is the more relevant point. Barry Sotero had to be well exposed to teachings of Islam in Indonesia.
Most people never overcome their exposure in the formative years. Barry will never lose his Muslim indoctrination, reverend Wright or no reverend Wright.
You misunderstood my point. We cannot say he attended a Madrassa, because he didn’t. Yes, he was ISLAM indoctrinated at home and the pubic government school in Indonesia, because at the time he attended ALL students had classes in their family religions. Christian, Islam, Catholic, etc. Yes, Indonesia is predominately Islam and that is another influence.
