Longer version of Ray Rice video shows argument before punch, reaction of hotel staff

Ray Rice and Janay Palmer can be heard shouting obscenities at each other, and she appears to spit in the face of the three-time Pro Bowl running back right before he throws a brutal punch in a video shown to The Associated Press by a law enforcement official.

The video, shown to the AP Monday night, includes audio and is longer than the grainy TMZ Sports video released earlier that day...

I know it's ad nauseam, but I remember when he did it to Phil Taylor. He's a spitter.

At 0:24 of your link, you can see his head make a spitting motion and you can see her squint and close her eyes just before she charges him and spits at him.

There is context and he admitted to assaulting her. However, he has a different job then me or you and is judged for his actions outside of his job. In fact if it were me in this video I would be in jail and have a worse life than he will ever have.

I think you're right. But from what I've heard, he spit on her twice, she then spits on him and charges, he clocks her in the face.

It's hard to determine how thing like this escalate but there can be no doubt that a spit in the face,even if undeserved/unprovoked,doesn't come close to justifying rendering the spitter unconscious.

I’ve looked at that that a number of times in slow-mo and I can’t distinguish her spitting at him, but I’m willing to believe that she did. The clearest part of the video to me is the beginning, where it is easy to see that he spat at her. Once they get into the elevator, their movements are much faster and less clear to me.

Yup. I just went back and looked between :08 and :09 and it's plain as day. He's checking his phone, she walks by, he spits at her. She takes a gentle little swat at him as she continues to the elevator. He follows her in where the video gets more grainy.

It looks like he spits on her again in the elevator. She then shoves him and he gives her a lighter left jab knocking her backwards into the elevator wall.

She then charges at him spitting in his face. He then delivers the knock out blow with what appears to be a left hook.

That’s especially true if she’s his fiancee. All he had to do to cut off her multi-million dollar sponging operation was nonviolently kick her out of his life and cut her off. Then he could have laughed at her when she begged to get back in and watched her regret the loss of millions of dollars that were hers to be had. Sometimes a nonviolent kick can do a lot more lasting damage than most violent kicks.

I agree.The only point I was making is that assume she was drunk it must be said that drunks,male and female,sometimes say and do outrageous things.But,if I was on a jury trying him for assault I'd vote guilty despite any claim he might make that "she had it coming".

In 'black' culture spitting in someone's face is the worst kind of 'dissing' you can do.
