WILSON, N.C. Thom Tillis, the Republican candidate for Senate in North Carolina, wouldnt commit to supporting Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, if both of them win this fall.
Im not going to look past the most important election and thats the election in November, he told BuzzFeed News on Saturday. I think there are a number of people in Republican caucus who would be great leaders and it would be great for them to be in that position.
He may not be looking past election day, but Tillis did try and lay out part of his vision for the Senate should Republicans take the majority. He is locked in a tight race against the Democratic incumbent Sen. Kay Hagan and considers his race the real majority-making state for Republicans.
Ive met with probably 30 members of the sitting Republican senators over the last year and I never neglect to let them know that Im going to expect our leadership to do things differently, he told supporters. Im going to expect our leadership to respect the minority.
Hagan has also been vague about supporting Senate Majority leader Harry Reid next year should she win reelection.

I'd like to see the decision be moot by McConnell being removed from power in November.
Amen.
If Tillis wins, he will.
As I recall, McConnell backed Tillis in the primary and there was a huge backlash with conservatives so I’m sure Tillis is just being careful not to commit now and McConnell knows this.
Translation:
“I will fall in line and support Mitch McConnell like a good little RINO”.
Im going to expect our leadership to respect the minority.
What’s that supposed to mean? If Republicans gain the majority he wants a pledge from the new Republican Senate majority leader to play nice with Dingy Harry?
Translation:
Conservatives, I need your vote right now, so I’ll lie to you, however, once I am elected, I will do what my masters, the Chamber of Cronyism, want me to do and support McConnell 100%.
Best thing that can happen is Republicans wind up with 52-53 seats, and in the process lose Kentucky.
That will send a message.
That is exactly the result I am hoping for.
