Ethnic Lithuanians and Ukrainians volunteered to participate in carrying out the Holocaust to an astounding extent, in many places carrying out the vast majority of the killings themselves. The reason most Ukrainians turned on the Nazis has nothing to do with love for Stalin -- but with the racist insanity of the Nazi government which insisted that Ukrainians, as Slavs, were subhuman despite their willingness to ally with the Germans. Instead of dividing and conquering, the Nazis lumped everyone together as Slavs and treated them as the enemy.

That comment makes zero sense. Ukrainians allied with the Nazis because of their belief Slavs were subhuman? Ridiculous. Yes there were antisemetic. Ukrainians who did terrible things. As there were Germans, Austrians, Dutch, Latvians, poles Russians etc etc etc,
The vast majority of Ukrainians who sided with the Germans was because of a belief they would allow an autonomous Ukrainian state, and so many had suffered terribly at the hands of Russians and the Soviets for decades that ANY chance to escape was welcome.
One other thing. When do we get to hold Russians responsible for the crimes of the Soviet Union? Many were enthusiastic supporters...
