The Alfred Fisher Mansion, the largest residential listing in Detroit, has sold for $1.6 Million in deal that closed in late August. Designed by architect Richard Marr and built in 1926, the mansion contains 15 bedrooms, 17 bathrooms, a ballroom, sun room, and a billiards room. There is also an indoor pool. These listing photos don't do the interior justice (there's a strange party situation in the basement) but the grounds are looking lovely. When the mansion first came on the market the ask was a mere $1.2M...."

Good question: arguably, about half of a mile. Detroit is weird, that way.

Not really “mind blowing” except that it is located in the Trashcanistan of a city and has not been looted.

There are houses that cost more than that in my block in Wisconsin — and not half as nice.

I was inspired to post this by that bozo yesterday who thought he could post a photo of Iraq and present it as one of Detroit. Internet stereotypes die hard.

huge homes for sale in bad areas of Detroit.
tempting, but you would need full time security to guard your property and plumbing.

Drove past it last week. The for sale sign was still up. I guess I missed my chance.

Yes, I thought it looked like a very good value for the money, and seems to have been maintained well, for the most part.

Internet "consensus".
If I weren't genetically rural, I would rather live in Detroit than just about any other city in the country based on the personal freedoms alone.

If that house was in Hollywood it’d go for $75 million easy, if it was in rural Texas it might even be worth more.

In that case, you wouldn’t mind fronting me some cash so I can buy another property in the area? You won’t miss it.
