The Baltimore Ravens have terminated the contract of running back Ray Rice, the team announced Monday, the same day a shocking video surfaced showing the NFL star punching his then-fiancee in February.
The news release from the NFL team was terse.
"The Baltimore Ravens terminated the contract of RB Ray Rice this afternoon," it read.
Rice had been suspended by the league for the first two games of the season, a controversial move that led to widespread criticism and to the league re-evaluating the punishment for domestic violence cases.

Except when the price of keeping that employee around (in terms of bad publicity and legal risk should the guy fail to control his temper and kill a fan with his bare hands) exceeds the value he brings in.
What makes NFL profitable is the ad revenue from televising games. Advertisers are vulnerable to boycott threats from angry women. Of course, how outraged women will be over a black athlete who beats his wife (as opposed to an athlete who is pro-life) is another story.
For the money. Bet she divorces him now.
You have to be kidding right? You think these women are going to leave someone bringing in millions just because of a punch in the mouth? Give me my Rolls, Rolex watch, fancy clothes and shoes. For that a little physical abuse is nothing.
She’ll be divorcing him soon enough, if he’s not going to draw an NFL paycheck.
Somewhere, Bill Clinton is laughing.
Sure seems that way. Do a little cost benefit analysis, and there's a lot to gain for a little physical abuse.
Rice's now wife should have walked away after that incident--those stripes don't change in a man.
Two or three games max. This guy puts butts in the seats,
“Rice’s now wife should have walked away after that incident—those stripes don’t change in a man”
You would think, but like I said the money is just too much for them to leave. It’s a matter of priorities and apparently her priority is living the high end lifestyle.
Sean Taylor is dead.
Well that’ll keep me shaking my head for the rest of the evening.

Sorry, but I am personally tired of people dressed to the nines in Church, I welcome being real.
More important what is inside a man...that`s just me
I think it`s the Lord also

Not only should he never be allowed to play again in the NFL, he should be in prison.
Maryland "Freak State" PING!
Woman ‘marines’ are not serving in combat units.
This ain’t the goddamned third world yet, football jersies are NOT appropriate church attire at any Catholic and most Protestant churches.
The NFL did not want to suspend him. Not for 2 games, not at all. It was the video that forced their hand. They dont care that he beats her up,
Neither do the fans.
“She was victimized by Ravens fans, who cheered Rice upon his return to the field, where he was asked on TV what “encouraging words” his wife had for him before getting this ovation.”
“How do we know this? Well, look at Floyd Mayweather. He’s been convicted of domestic violence (and recently accused again of troubling behavior) and there will be plenty of cheers for him this weekend. There were plenty of cheers for San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Ray McDonald when he played against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday despite being arrested for allegedly abusing his pregnant girlfriend. And there were plenty of cheers on Sunday for Carolina Panthers defensive tackle Greg Hardy, who was convicted this summer for assaulting his girlfriend.”
