Black America Needs Its Own President
The Root ^ | September 5, 2014 | Theodore R. Johnson III

Posted on 09/06/2014 1:53:15 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

We need a chief executive who can artfully make the compelling case to the country that we continue to be unfairly and unconstitutionally subjugated.

Every so often, an incident symptomatic of deeper issues triggers a release valve for collective despair. The killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., sparked a movement much larger than concerns about the aggressive policing of black men. The marches and protests are a larger commentary about the economic and societal disenfranchisement of black people and the response to Brown’s death is a coalescing event, sounding the latest clarion call for America to revisit her unresolved original sin.

But movements need leaders. And while this one certainly has organizers doing important work, it is missing the critical element that black America has not produced for some time: a national, unifying figure. Black America needs its own presidential figurehead—a chief executive who can artfully make the compelling case to the country that we are unfairly and unconstitutionally subjugated. A case that needs to have a face and voice with which the nation can interact, associate and, in theory, negotiate.

Though familiar faces take the mantle in times of uncertainty or calamity, none are the embodiment of the larger, enduring and unrelenting cause. In a survey last year, a plurality of black Americans (40 percent) said there is no leader who speaks (pdf) for them. Even when familiar names were presented, such as the Rev. Jesse Jackson or current Congressional Black Caucus members, only 1 in 10 felt these leaders were adequately giving voice to their issues. The most popular name was the Rev. Al Sharpton, but there is a growing sentiment that his vision and approach lack currency....

"useless eaters"

Are there millions of productive black Americans who go about their jobs daily without complaining and asking for a handout? Sure. But they're vastly overwhelmed by the numbers of black Americans who subsist on gov. handouts, are incompetent at their jobs thanks to AA, or who live criminal lives draining the resources of the taxpayers.

I doubt more than a few blacks realize what an immense drag they are as a whole on the country. Thomas Sowell even hinted in one of his columns some time ago that America might not need black people. He was right. If they all disappeared tomorrow, it would be a positive economic and social benefit for the country.

It's sad because like I mentioned there are many productive black Americans. But the ceaseless whining and complaining by the numerous black Americans leads me to the conclusion that the great majority will never be satisfied.

“...societal disenfranchisement of black people...?

WTF? Ain’t we giving away enough taxpayer dollars to the gimme-mo’ crowd?

The New (Raw?) Deal, war on poverty and the war on drugs have done more to undermine a truly homogeneous American Society than any smidgen of continuing ‘racism’ in this country.

What is really needed is a level playing field, a return to Constitutional principles, and an educational system freed of the bureaucratic stranglehold that has rewarded attendance over achievement, and lowest common denominator learning.

After the Civil War, an African country was bought for the freed blacks. It is called Liberia. Do American blacks know they have their own country in Africa? Do they need help getting to their own country in Africa?

“I say give everyone dissatisfied here a one-way ticket to anywhere outside the United States and one million dollars tax-free, in exchange for which they give up US citizenship and agree never to return.”

My idea was along the lines of a mule and 40 acres in Zimbabwe?

There is no black community

There are several black subcultures that must be lumped together to induce political homogenity

I’d give both them and the hispanics Kali, separate it from the USA physically, and then they could have their own government, president and own country, they get to fund it totally and run it.If it is anything like Detroit and Memphis crime capitols and welfare queens rule. Along with crooked politicians.

The rest of us could go back to a Republic Constitutional government, a much smaller government.

Actually it was much earlier. The President was James Monroe and the capital is still called Monrovia

I would agree, however I would prescribe 20 years on a chain gang as the punishment for vote fraud ... And capital punishment for anyone organizing vote fraud.

They have an “all” black president and they have their own country, it’s Called Liberia and was established by former slaves as their own country. I’m sure we could get donations for airfare to send any or all of them to “their own country” if the would renounce their citizenship. Hand in your SNAP and EBT cards at the tarmac.

Black America has its own President and Attorney General right now. Worse, they are also the President and Attorney General for everyone else. It’s just what they’ve always wanted.

Have they not noticed that every law that blatantly favors blacks or any other minority group, somehow makes things worse for them too?

Also, the majority of those “productive black” (how productive are they really when you include the large percentage place-holding in government AA jobs?) are vocal in support of the dysfunctional element and their “rights”, or at best silent in not speaking against the destruction they’re doing to this nation and frankly, to whites. I don’t of course expect them to give whites a fair shake, because only whites are expected to put aside their race loyalty in the interest of everyone else.

No and they never will because they will always think that if they can just take more away from whites, they will magically become civilization builders too.

Go back to Africa and pick any glorious paradise of a country run by blacks. So Bammy doesn’t count as one? Not enough hope n change? Yeh but they would vote for him again and again if he was able to run for office. Oh and if Ben Carson runs expect the poison to rise up from the sheeple tribals. Sick of ‘em.

I hate it when an article is full of big words that the author doesn’t understand, like
coalescing, unrelenting, subcultural, squelching, and existential.
