BOSTON Anti-gambling activists are touting a major boost from Sen. Elizabeth Warren as their campaign to repeal the state's casino law heads into the final stretch.
The first-term Democrat said Monday she'll likely vote in favor of repealing the 2011 state law that opened the door for Las Vegas-style gambling in Massachusetts. The group Repeal the Casino Deal hailed the remarks as a "bold stand" by one of the state's most prominent politicians. Warren has been mentioned as a possible candidate for president in 2016, even though she has said repeatedly she's not running.

Is she speaking on behalf of her indian tribe?
lol
The Indians aren’t going to be happy with Princess High Cheekbones.
A gaming commission is supposed to award one license for eastern Mass to either an immediate suburb to Boston or to Revere/Boston where the current Suffolk Downs sits. The track officials claim they will shut their doors if the track fails to get the license by either the vote of the public (repeal) or the gaming commission’s decision. This is one of those issues involving strange bedfellows.
That’s weird. I favor repealing elizabef faux-ca-hauntus warren.
Indian giver.
The problem is it is a state issue. She is a Senator.
So what difference does her stance of this make?
She probably decided she didn’t like it after she learned it was a profit thing.
Probably to sway undecided voters or convince her supporters. There is a statewide ballot issue approaching and my guess is the anti-gambling groups is pulling out all stops. Yesterday, someone here on FR mentioned the more conservative GOP candidate for Governor is opposed to casinos (which I guess makes him in agreement with Warren) while his opponent favors casinos.
Two cansinos in Atlantic City have just closed. They said that competition from nearby states has finished what Sandy started. A decade ago I was in a hotel near Miami. The owner had sold the motel, but the new owner spent every cent that came in at the nearby Indian owned casino. He failed to meet his mortgage, and the old owner had to reposses the property. He was so mad, he just wanted to retire. I am sure that there are many families suffering because of the compulsive gamblers in their family, just like they suffer from alcoholics.
She's a senator??? What happened to Kennedy and Kerry?
j/k
I have been following some of what is reported about Atlantic City. The situation in Massachusetts is a bit different because of the potential relationship in the eastern part of the state with the horse racing track which currently holds a summertime meet (schedule) and a possible closure should the casino bill be repealed or the gaming commission deciding to award a license to a competing bid.
Tracks in various places including Cincinnati and Philadelphia have had recent affiliations from casinos or “racinos.”
