Al Franken is currently attempting to present to the general public the image of  someone who is willing to forge alliances with Republican senators as well as avoiding controversy by engaging in sweet corn filibusters when answering campaign questions. It is all part of his campaign strategy, along with refusing to debate his opponent, to run out the clock to election day.

However, when he thinks he can get away with it, Franken will pull out the race card and basically accuse Republicans of racism for supposedly wanting to suppress the vote of "certain Americans" as you can see at the 3:07 mark (and after the jump) in this Hmong TV video. In stark contrast to the genial and confident Franken which is being presented out in public,  in the video he is bitterly divisive with an undertone of desperation:

Study of Twin Cities Hmong population

Hmong Community Survey, 68% were receiving some form of AFDC, 16% were on GA, and 4% had some other unspecified source of income.

Definitely Franken’s audience.

Demonization seems to be the theme for Democrats this year as they cannot run on the Obama economy which has killed jobs.

It’s Democrats who don’t want certain people to vote - like our military.

The truest segment they ever did on Saturday Night Live was "Franken and Davis, brought to you by the American Communist Party."

Republicans 'Don't Want Certain Americans to Vote' on Hmong TV

Well, I'm no longer a Republican, but in truth I have no opinion on Hmong TV, let alone wanting to vote on it.

Or is the editor taking a long weekend this Labor Day? :-)

Voter suppression? You mean like using the IRS to target conservative groups during an election cycle?

False witness? I know I read something somewhere about that and how we're NOT to do it.

Does Al really believe he's above that Law, too?

Of course, who votes and for what has always been the question.

Free men of property, 21 and older (white and black, BTW. And yes Trayvon, quite a few blacks owned slaves), who passed literacy tests, paid a poll tax, and were citizens who voted for George Washington , Jefferson, and Adams. Out of a population of some 3-4 million, perhaps 150,000 votes.

First "reach-out" men without property. Second, those who could not pay poll taxes, then women, then the illiterate and minors. All rather neatly illustrates Democracy's fundamental flaw: eventually an election becomes "Tyranny of the Stupid," a vote to continue receiving benefits promised by those for whom one votes.

At one point in our history, only property owners were allowed to vote.
Property owners have a “dog in the fight”, whereas non property owners have no dog yet, they want to have a say in how things are run.
No property, or no business ownership should equal “no vote”. That would go a long way in silencing non- stakeholders in our society.
