Kleptocracy is what we and the Europeans are evolving into as well except using the central banks. As with Russia it is a separate problem, separate from Russian nationalism. I don’t actually know (or care) how to solve Russian nationalism in countries like Ukraine, but I do know that we can’t fix it.

No you are right. We should listen to the Ukrainian nationalists on this board and maybe the Estonian or Lithuanians or even the Finns. We should support every effort to contain Russian from expansion no matter who says so. We have all the money in the world to do that since we print it. If Russia gets pissed off at that, we can just nuke them and that will stop WWIII dead in its tracks.

Russia was making these same lame arguments when they invaded Georgia, claiming they had to do it in order to discourage countries from joining NATO, an organization that has been demobalizing for years.

The Russians aren't invading countries because the United States is so evil and meddling. They are invading countries for the same reason Muslims constantly attack Israel or the United States. Not because of the Iraq-War or Jews causing some trouble for them, but because of their religion, or in the Russian case, their anti-Western ideology.

Yes, by arming the Ukrainians we will bring Russia to its knees like Ronald Reagan did to the Soviet in Afghanistan. Obama is merely another Jimmy Carter. Carter's weakness emboldened the Soviets to invade Afghanistan like Obama’s weakness has enabled the Neo-Soviet invasion of Ukraine. The next Reagan will destroy Russia by helping the Ukrainians wage guerrilla warfare against Russia and kill many Russians. In the end the Russian people themselves will be calling for Putin's head on a stick, as their country fall apart around them.

Not really. They invade neighboring countries to shore up the Russian nationalists in those countries and tear off the pieces that have enough Russians in them. They don't lob bombs airplanes at us or Israel. I would like to keep it that way.

Kleptocracy is what we and the Europeans are evolving into as well except using the central banks.

The West is not morally equivalent to Russia, or China, or Iran, or North Korea. Relativism like this is tired old leftist trash, as if we should not mind the Russians killing people and preparing for war against us because "we are no better."

As with Russia it is a separate problem, separate from Russian nationalism.

I don't know what you mean by this, but I suspect it is very stupid.

I don’t actually know (or care) how to solve Russian nationalism in countries like Ukraine, but I do know that we can’t fix it.

Russian nationalism is not the problem in Ukraine. Russia is the problem in Ukraine. Only a minority in the East and South support separatism. The conflict itself has been in the works since 2006, with the current Russkie terrorist leaders receiving leadership and guerrilla training as far back as back then, with the stated goal of creating a independent Pro-Russian enclave in Ukraine.

Quite naive. The Ukrainians are armed well enough already. The have a Russian nationalism problem that they can solve politically. Russia has put a few hundred soldiers on the line, they are not falling to their knees.

You have no strategy for keeping it that way, except by claiming that if we do not provoke them, they will never try it, even though their state-media every day demonizes us and prepares the population for doing just that against us.

Tblisi and Kiev are not under control of Moscow and they are not going to be. They will remain allies of the west and will continue to move in our direction. Ukraine and Georgia both sent troops to help us fight Russia's terrorist ally Saddam Hussein in Iraq. Putin has punished them for wanting to be friends with the USA because Putin despises the USA and everything we represent. He still cannot accept the EVIL EMPIRE’s defeat in the Cold War. Like Hitler who could not accept Germany's defeat in the Great War, Putin demands VENGEANCE! He wants to undo history and Ronald Reagan's great achievement. Like Hitler he will arrogantly lead his nation to complete and total RUIN.

I expect Putin will probably be sending Ukrainians to Siberia if he wins.

Our Constitution is being undermined daily by the home grown and foreign elite who would like to see the end of the American experiment. Your answer seems to be war with Russia.

The West is not morally equivalent to Russia, or China, or Iran, or North Korea.

Never said it was. The Russian are ahead of us on the road to kleptocracy but do not have state-run industry benefitting communists so they are not as bad as China, not as dangerous as North Korea or Iran.

Who cares?

Ukraine is fighting to be a western democracy and you oppose that. Ukraine is the result of winning the cold war. Reagan detested your kind.

even though their state-media every day demonizes us and prepares the population for doing just that against us.

Now you are really out in left field. A lot of the time we have to read Russian sources (or British, etc) to find out what is going on here. We have better lip service for freedom of the press but less actual freedom of the press.

“I expect Putin will probably be sending Ukrainians to Siberia if he wins.”

Maybe...but he’s been around a long time and other than whacking a few reporters, I don’t know of anything approaching the level of terror that the country lived under during Communism.

Do you have any info of Putin opening labor camps there?

Ukraine is the result of winning the cold war.

The cold war was won by outspending the Soviets and arming the muslims who immediately turned against us. Our choices are repeating that or all-out war with Russia. Or apparently we can "send arms to Ukraine" and everything will be perfect.

Russia has invaded Ukraine with thousands of soldiers. There will be no political solution to the war between Russia and Ukraine. The rabid dog KGB Putin cannot be reasoned with or negotiated with. He must be put down. It will take years of killing Russian occupiers but in the end Russia will not be able to continue it’s genocidal occupation just as the much stronger Soviets could not defeat the Afghans, who were much weaker than Ukraine is today.

About 5-7 people detained in the Moscow in attempt to light candles in memory of those killed in the Ukraine

dissenters will be vanquished!

Putin is probably reopening Siberian work camps as we speak

I think the immediate strategic goals are two:

1. A land bridge to the Crimea.
2. A lessening of the pressure on the “separatists” by the Ukranian army.

Long term he probably wants some sort of partition but I think in this case he’s asking for the moon and will appear to settle for less.
