Let's not pull any punches about the rape-gang in Rotherham, the cover-ups and lies by the Labour council and the failures of police.
Rotherham Council is far from exceptional in its willingness to do nothing except ignore what was going on.
It’s been happening for a long time in lots of our towns and cities where the most vulnerable children are allowed to be pimped out for money by groups of men – mainly from the Pakistani community.
Even more horrifically, it’s normal for victims who threaten to expose the abuse or escape from it to be menaced with guns, told their families will be harmed or warned they will be burnt alive.
It’s estimated 1,400 young girls were targeted between 1997 and 2013.
But in my experience that figure will be conservative.
What’s happened – and is probably still happening – in Rotherham is the tip of a very large iceberg.
The reality is grooming gangs are run like businesses and make a lot of money.
They have been around since at least the mid-1990s, yet we as a society have turned a blind eye to them or been too afraid to say it’s a crime whose perpetrators are chiefly of Pakistani origin.
The fear of being accused of racism is very real in councils.
But even if we accept that’s the case, it surely means there are people in positions of power on the council who, having weighed up the fear of being branded racist against covering up child abuse, decided a cover-up was the way to go.

The UK media had a field day bashing the Catholic church over the preist sex abuse scandal. Demanding and got the Pope to condemn but the same media can’t be bothered to treat islam the same way.

I don’t understand this. I grew up in a majority Mexican American town and the young women were fiercely protected. If I’d misbehaved, even a little, I’d of had brothers, fathers, uncles and next door neighbors stepping on me and hard. I guess the feminists would have objected but the girls were safer even than they wanted to be.

It’s a pretty tough editorial for a lefty paper, it is lefty (I say that because the problem of unchecked immigration and see-no-evil multiculturalism is a hallmark of the left)
And they’re abandoning their daughters. You can’t survive long doing that.
