It's coming: Romney for president redux
American Thinker ^ | 8/28/14 | Rick Moran

The last two Republican candidates for president have been among the weakest GOP candidates in 50 years.

Barack Obama presented Mitt Romney with a gift in 2012: A struggling economy, sluggish growth, a paucity of jobs, and a health care law that was extremely unpopular.

In what should have been a landslide rejection of Obama's policies, Romney flubbed it big time and allowed his opponent to define him - and Republicans - in the most unlfattering way imaginable.

You would have hoped that Romney would have retired from the public arena and kept a low profile as other losers have done in the past. Instead, the last few months have seen the former presidential candidate raising his public profile considerably, while apparently courting big money donors which is generating speculation he may make another run in 2016.

And now, a new poll out of Iowa may put some fire in his belly.

I doubt that Romney will be the nominee - not with the Bushes on the hunt for a New World Order. JEB! will be the nominee. Since we will have a one-world progressive either way, the GOP is dead to me.

That's not even an understatement. Romney didn't flub anything because he was, is, and will always be a proponent of policies very much like Obama's in every way.

The only ones who flubbed were the GOP leaders who allowed this fraud to get the party nomination.

Hasn’t it sunk in for anyone yet that the fix is in?

Romney was the very first GOP candidate of any office, big or small, that I refused to give my vote to. Didn’t vote for him in 2012, and I won’t vote for him in 2016.

Ditto here for this straight-ticket middle-aged Republican voter, and ditto for my octogenarian straight-ticket Republican mom.

2012 proved that there are a LOT more of us out here than I thought, and it tells me there is hope for America yet.

Americans see through the brand ruse for the same product. Democrat and Republican are just different brand names for the same product, like Hostess or Lil' Debbie, only instead of junk food the product is big overpowering government.

Americans want a new PRODUCT: reduced government, heavy pruning of Federal government, reclamation of personal freedoms and responsibilities and heavy pruningh of government on just about every level, from education to health care. That is the PRODUCT that is not on the shelf at election time if your only "serious" brand options are Republican and Democrat.

The balance of Americans knew that choosing between Republican and Democrat for president in 2012 was like choosing between Hostess or Lil' Debbie -- a joke, and a galling one at that. How stupid does the GOP think Americans are?

[Romney will] ... provide needed adult rule.

By all means, "let's" elect the "adult" to lead us. Guess what that "adult" thinks about childish conservatives like us who hate his position on abortion, health care, homosexual "rights," amnesty, gun control, and environmentalism?

I refuse to vote for ANYBODY who portrays himself as the "adult" in a world of children.

To that, Forward, I say SIT ON IT AND ROTATE.

Reagan was talked about as a potential candidate in 1968 but I don’t remember if he was on the ballot in any of the primary states.

Apparently Reagan was on the ballot in California and won. Those were the days of "favorite son" candidates. Real candidates let local politicians win delegates and use them for bargaining at the convention.

Nobody challenged Reagan, just as nobody challenged the Ohio governor in his state's primaries. The irony is that being on the ballot in California actually gave Reagan more total primary votes than Nixon or any other candidate.

I hope Romney has enough sense not to run again -- or at least not to use the word "redux" if he's crazy enough to run a third time.

Same here, after Dole then McCain, I said "never again" and I meant it.

Have you no shame suggesting this elitist POS for POTUS much less comparing him as some sort of equal to Ronaldus Maximus????

I remember when people were banned for doing that.

Maybe those days will return and the establishment squishballs will again ride the lightning and receive the zot.

I don't know what it is about Massachusetts and the word "redux."

Long-time Massachusetts resident John Updike called one of his novels Rabbit Redux

Maybe it's the "red" part of the word that appeals to them, as in Red Sox, or electing Reds to office.
