The sad truth remains that 5% of FReepers support 100% of FR. Can you imagine what it would be like if we had 10% support? These things would wrap up in days, not months.
When I joined FR ten years ago, it was not uncommon to git 'er done in 7-10 days. It was less expensive 10 years ago, but, it really shouldn't take two months.
Not everybody can donate. I get that. But, I'm certain that we have some among the 95% that are FReeploading. Harsh words, but I know it's true.
Imagine no FR. No way to get the REAL news that affects us all. No pool of talent to ferret out the real truth. No ability to call BS when we see it.
The list goes on.
We need your help. We need new donors. We need new blood.
If you've never donated, give it a whirl. If you donate once in a while, try monthly donations. It's really painless.
Imagine a Freepathon that lasts days, not months.

Music for you, since you can’t seem to keep it together.
Sorry your undies are in a bunch.
But hey, you put it out there smugly.
Don’t whine when it gets commented on.
A friend visited recently and she had an AT&T phone. Barely one bar. Sigh.
Wow, how motivating.
How much bandwidth have you blown just running around trying to intimidate and shame people with the same recycled lines? Do you operate by quarters or do I need to pull a string somewhere?
I’m not your son, I’m a grandmother and I’ve never thought a free ride was Conservative. Your mileage may vary.
I feel your pain. When I first moved here after retiring from the Army everyone bragged that Verizon had just built a tower. I took the plunge and got their phone and aircard. Wish I’d bought a meter to read the bars first. I generally had to walk outside and up the hill to get the darn thing to work.
Thanks for the anecdote. Pretty the same here. Guess I should be happy with the access I’ve got.
“FR works off bandwith.”
So if users watch a youtube video, play a song, or visit a dreaded blog over their own ISP; FR gets the bill for that bandwidth if the link stems from here?
That is...pretty hard to believe.
Neither is taking people’s money and wasting it.
.......Thanks for this illuminating explanation.
.......I now get it!
No, but if you post an excerpt v. the whole article, or blog, it saves bandwidth. People here that demand every article and blog that can be posted whole be done so, are wasting money. That’s one of several reasons I know longer donate.
Thanks for directing me to that post. I did reply on that thread.
But, I will repeat it. “Thanks for this illuminating explanation! I now get it”!
Great post! I read JIm Robinson’s explanation (post 133) and now understand why things are set up the way they are!
I appreciate your post.
” - - - I have been a monthly donor for years. My name doesnt show up in the FReepathon donation lists. - - - “
FYI: Donor names are listed only by the donor requesting, from Jim Robinson, such listing be made.
_________
BTW, there is a big difference between asking permission and telling - - - .
So very true, dear brother in Christ!

My pleasure. Not only do I not like ads or fees, but they would change Free Republic’s status from donor funded to competing business.
Awesome! I think you found a winning business plan! Shoo everybody off, then the monthly bills won’t be so expensive!
Genius!
Being pithy and laconic doesn’t make one any less stupid.
