An Israeli officer in the Golan Heights was moderately injured by apparent stray fire from fighting in Syria Wednesday morning, as an al-Qaeda linked rebel group took control of the only crossing between Israel and Syria.
At least six mortars fired from Syria landed in the Golan Heights over the course of the day as rebels and forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad fought for control of the Quneitra crossing, near Israels northeastern border.
The IDF said it had not completely determined whether the mortars were fired into Israel intentionally or were a spillover from fighting between rival factions on the Syrian side of the border.
The mortars also caused damage to a car, according to Israeli news source Ynet.
In response to the spillover, Israeli forces hit two Syrian army positions, the IDF said.
Syrian rebels, including the al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Nusra Front, seized control of the Syrian crossing with the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights on Wednesday, a monitoring group said.

This crap is getting out of hand quickly.....We’ll be lucky to live through it.
Oops, you just got Israel involved.
I feel exactly as you do. I’m dreading Sep.11 I feel like it will be a miracle if nothing awful happens that day.
Bush’s fault, not mine!
Well, if you think about it, they could do it on the 10th if they use a different time zone.
“...Well be lucky to live through it.”
Yep.

Something must have gotten lost in the translation. Israel controls the Israeli/Syrian border. Just ask the dumbass who let loose the mortars with the bad aim. Virgin Call! The notion that anyone in Syria has anything to say about what/who crosses that gate is silly. And technically it’s the Golan/Syria crossing anyway. I’m not sure if the Israelis have finished annexing Golan yet but they need to get it done PDQ——all the way to Bekaa.
Are they trying to capture the US border?
Would somebody please analyze and identify ISIS’ TACTICAL MANEUVERS in overcoming bases, checkpoints, cities, etc? Their tactics must be dissected and DEFEATED. Response to mortar positions must be met with CLUSTER BOMB AIRSTRIKES.. F/A-18’s AT THE READY!
Al NURSA or JAN have pledged support at times to ISIS and other times not but mostly times they have.
Huh? They've been fighting each other for almost a year. Evidence to the contrary?
Ah.
Go kidnap them, hold for ransom and or behead them.
So why would Israel hit Syrian army positions if the border crossing was attacked by a rebel group?
JAN is a fractured organization. Just because a few clans denounce ISIS publicly that does not mean behind the tent or indeed other clans will or do.
Al Qaeda, Baathists, JAN and ISIS are quite capable for a moment at least to excuse their ideals for short term common goals.

Update...
“An Israeli military spokesman, Lt. Col. Peter Lerner, confirmed that the crossing was no longer controlled by Syrian government forces.”
The Eastern World....it is explodin’....
