The American Heart Association says e-cigarettes are dangerous gateway products that cause nicotine addiction and should be subject to strict federal controls for minor-aged use.

The group published its statement into the journal Circulation. Among its views: Ban e-cigarettes for minors, tightly regulate the product’s marketing and ban vapors that have flavors because they entice youngsters to try the product, Medical News Today reported.

The e-cig version is completely undetectable.

The cops are flipping out because they can’t just randomly test everyone with e-cigs.

Google it.

I like the CDC on most topics, but they get whacky on nicotine issues.

Whacky is one thing, grossly misleading is another. Here's what's considered the money line in the story:

"The results show that 43.9 percent of sixth- through 12th-graders who had used e-cigarettes said they intended to light up conventional cigarettes over the next year, compared with 21.5 percent of youth who had never used the electronic nicotine delivery systems."

And here's the line, buried in the report, that you won't see reported much:

"The study also showed that 21.9 percent of the youth who had never smoked traditional cigarettes intended to give them a try in the next year -- almost exactly the same proportion as the 21.5 percent who had never tried an e-cigarette --"

In other words, 1 in 5 kids are going to smoke whether or not they tried ecigs. The 44% group is a subset of those who are going to smoke anyway.

As a matter of fact, ecigs are not a very good gateway as more than half of the kids who tried them are not going to smoke.

The “IT’S FOR THE CHILDREN (tm)”, is just translated easily into any language as meaning “we have no other valid logical argument so we use children who we don’t know and don’t care about as human shields to advance our agenda.”

It’s predictable, Obvious and transparent. I don’t remember any of these health groups speaking out against spearmint and cinnaburst nicotine gum’s manufactured by big pharmaceutical companies. Or peach schnapps liquor.

Whoever happens to be in government office today and the special interest groups who lobby them don’t give a crap who dies or from what.

It’s all about the $$$$$.

Policy makers and political representatives only paid attention in this case because the people who quit smoking like me with electronic cigarettes spoke up and challenged their lies.

” but the alternative scares them,”

I suspect it’s the loss of control that scares them. People finding alternatives to mandated progressivism!

The lack of cash, too, is an issue. Cigs are what, $6? That’s 98% taxes.
