The American Heart Association says e-cigarettes are dangerous gateway products that cause nicotine addiction and should be subject to strict federal controls for minor-aged use.
The group published its statement into the journal Circulation. Among its views: Ban e-cigarettes for minors, tightly regulate the products marketing and ban vapors that have flavors because they entice youngsters to try the product, Medical News Today reported.

they begged for a safe alternative that didn’t cause second hand smoke.
now there’s one and theyre against it.
it will cut into their fundraising and i wonder if it will decrease govt money they get b/c the massive tax revenue off cigarettes is going down.
“It’s for the children” to the rescue of facists again.
How much money does the American Heart Association get from the sale of conventional cigarettes?
Just wondering.....
...and they’ll be nanny health Nazis on FR who will agree with them.
Yup. Gotta tax the e-cigs because they went and killed their golden goose (cigarettes)! Pathetic.
Bah!
Does that mean they will ban burgers because the aroma is enticing but eating beef could cause heart disease?
I hope these nanny people go down HARD.
Here is what confuses me and I have never heard a straight answer to this from anyone who opposes the e-cigarettes.
The problem with tobacco use is the carcinogenic toxins that is inhaled or ingested from the tobacco itself. The addictive chemical in tobacco is nicotine, but is nicotine in and of itself dangerous to be addicted to?
I don’t wish to be addicted to anything, which is why I also try to pay attention to the amount of caffeine I ingest, but if nicotine is not harmful to people, then why the desperate attempt to keep people from using a non-carcinogenic method of inhaling nicotine?
Thanks, American Heart Association! /s
How much money does this group receive yearly from the US Government?
Something? Nothing?
A study purportedly done by the CDC. If you read the internals, the conclusions are, as to be expected, utter hogwash.
That's a good question. Nicotine dosage in cigarettes has never been considered toxic, although in very large amounts (well beyond what one gets in cigarettes) it can be toxic
So what's the answer? It seems like some are trying like hell to have it declared as a neuro-toxin, even though historically, it hasn't been known to be.

Okie dokie...but is the AHA going after weed too in Colorado and Washington?!?
I mean, while they are at it, why aren't they pissing the stoners off too...Not that I really give a flying $uck eitherway.
Some enterprising folks put hash oil in their e-cigs, and possibly other non-nicotine substances.
Wait until this is commonly known! The guy enjoying his vape could be getting HIGH oh no!
Everybody I know who uses e-cigs switched *from* cigarettes, not *to* cigarettes.
This is totally bass-ackwards.
Are they going to go after the smart asses who are standing around in public getting stoned from their THC e-cigs, too?
My husband, a very long time smoker, had a heart attack last year and was in the hospital for several days. After day two he became a bit bitchy due to not being able to smoke, his cardiologist is the one who suggested that he use the e-cigs.
I am not a smoker, never have been. What are the dangers of nicotine addiction if tobacco is not ingested?
Ban coffee too!!!!!!!!!
My young nephew smelled a pot brewing this morning now he’s out looking for meth.....
