Around 20 years ago I met a British lay preacher at a Summer retreat in North Carolina. His regular job was a policeman. We talked for a while and I was surprised to learn that he was authorized to carry a Walther PPK but only concealed.
Although most British Bobbies are not armed with guns, a few are.
That was an excellent article.
“You take the US figures for...” there’s his mistake.
GDP isn’t what it’s cracked up to be even when the figure is honest.
Interesting
(admitting to making a comment prior to reading the article) I wonder if the authors’ numbers reflect how BLOODY EXPENSIVE things are in the UK and how much they pay in taxes.
I shall read.
The comments after the article were very interesting.
I thought West Virginia is the poorest state. Reading, PA, poorest town. Ebb and flow? When are people going to remember we own nothing, it’s all a gift.
I have a good friend who was born, raised, educated and lived in Alabama most of his life who was forced to work in London for British Telecom for the first couple of years after he was hired.
He and his wife hated how backwards and archaic everything was in London. When his two years were up, BT reneged on their promise to send him back to the U.S. and he quit on the spot. BT in turn caved on the spot and he and his family are now living happily in Texas, still employed by BT.
Mississippi can’t get a break. Its cheap to live here, cheaper than anywhere else. Except for Jackson, the people are friendly and helpful.
