TOURE: I don't know what exactly happened when Michael Brown and Darren Wilson collided but I know too well the heart ache it has caused a nation where many feel that black life is worth less. This sign saying black lives matter is so simple and so powerful and so insane that we still feel the need to say it. In the 50s, blacks march with a sign saying 'I Am A Man.' The difference between those sentiments is paper thin. Blacks are still trying to get America to see and treat black people as if black and white lives matter equally. Sensing that black life matters less comes most often and most acutely from seeing these frequent incidences where black men are gunned down by police. The victims of police shootings are disproportionately black.
We live in a nation where an unarmed Eric Garner, surrounded by multiple officers who interrogated him for selling cigarettes, is killed but a mass murderer in Aurora, Colorado, who killed many people using multiple guns, was somehow taken peacefully. A nation where white men can walk into restaurants openly brandishing real assault weapons like performance art and are asked to leave while a black man in an Ohio Wal-Mart was shot while holding a BB gun that he picked up inside that very store. A nation where Cliven Bundy supporters are allowed to meet federal force with their own force and allowed to aim guns at federal officials and have those officials fall back while in Ferguson, protesters were tear-gassed.
The anger, the pain, the trauma around the differential treatment and the violent losses of black life is all too familiar. That's why people all over the country converged on Ferguson and protested with the locals....

This guy can cherry-pick certain cases, but there are many arrests over the years with black cop/white perpetrator and white cop/black perpetrator where it's the opposite of this clown's narrative.
One example, Colin Ferguson. Another is the capture of the Beltway snipers. Yet another (I know I date myself) is that of Paul Fava.
Should America have listened?
How about if the protest documented white on black killings an compared them with black on white killings?
If this cop did something wrong, I want him in jail. SO far the evidence is incomplete and much of it exonerates him. Should America have “listened”?
This wasn’t a ‘race’ riot.
It was a false protest followed by a planned looting spree in which the looters protested the response of LE to the looting by rioting.
Excellent point.
Being heard isn’t all that matters.
What is America “listening” to? None of the rest of the country is going to get Wilson into a trial, or fix the destroyed businesses, or convince the owners not to pick up and move to a city that doesn’t treat them like dirt.
If you want to be treated like a “man”? ACT like a man... and, not a freaking animal.
Wil the Muslims sue for theft of intellectual property ?
I am not sure there was anything they said that was a) true or b) worth listening to.
...SAME AS...
???
[Sorry, I don't get it.]
They were rioting for justice and against the right of self defense.
Blacks like Toure have been indoctrinated to the point of intellectual stupefaction. This moron and Melissa Harris-Perry(who’s mother is white) have never experienced an overt or covert act of racism in their lives, other than accusing some conservative of it, and yet they are so desperate, so obsessed to experience a racist affront so that somehow, vicariously, they can identify with ‘’the struggle’’ of a previous generations real life and often deadly instances of race driven acts of violence and racist policies. They’re like some sixteen year old kid playing air guitar along to his favorite head-banger metal band dreaming he’s the star. Racism is a business for a-holes like Harris-Perry and this loon Toure.
I have no doubt that this is going to end badly! If you are black and killed by a white your life is worth something, but if you are black and killed by another black, your life is meaningless............
We must watch the same news coverage.
Another community thing that has been overwhelmed by outside liberal influences. Where are the local citizens, community appointed leaders, their fact finding committees, and a list of their grievances and recommended solutions. Must everything be resolved by these outside influences?
Like spoiled children, no give and take, only gimme one way, my way solutions. No other facts, no other compromises, no other ideas, no implied responsibilities from anyone. Only gimme an instant resolution to the old lingering issues that have been around for decades.
Same old faces. Same old victims. Same old results. Same old sh*t. Insanity! (Doing the same old thing and expecting a different result)
Instead of burning the community down, why don’t they try building it up for a change.
I didn’t recognize him without the visor. ;)
RACE PIMPS
Just in Chicago, every week end, dozens of blacks are murdered and wounded by black and nobody in the black leadership, neither Obama, nor Holder or the race pimps, care. When blacks kill blacks, there are not mob protesting and rioting, neither Holders Justice Department send 50 special agents to investigate and prosecute the culprits of a single case.
A 2007 special report released by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, reveals that approximately 8,000 and, in certain years, as many as 9,000 African Americans are murdered annually in the United States. This chilling figure is accompanied by another equally sobering fact, that 93% of these murders are in fact perpetrated by other blacks. The analysis, supported by FBI records, finds that in 2005 alone, for example, African Americans accounted for 49% of all homicide victims in the US again, almost exclusively at the hands of other African Americans.
To put these number in perspective, recall that over 6,400 U.S. service men and women have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan combined over the course of a decade-long war fought in those nations.
