EXCLUSIVE: Mark David Chapman must continue to serve prison time for John Lennon's murder, parole board says

Fearing he may commit more crimes, a three-person Parole Board panel announced Friday it has denied Chapman’s eighth bid for release. He won’t be eligible for parole again for another two years. The 59-year-old is serving a 20-year to life sentence at upstate Wende Correctional Facility after gunning down the former Beatle in 1980 as Lennon returned home from a late night recording session with wife Yoko Ono.

John Lennon's killer will have to let it be in prison for at least two more years.

Fearing he may commit more crimes, a three-person Parole Board panel announced Friday it has denied Mark David Chapman’s eighth bid for release.

According to the decision, “the panel has determined that if released at this time, there is a reasonable probability that you would not live and remain at liberty without again violating the law.”

The panel added that “your release would be incompatible with the welfare of society and would so deprecate the serious nature of the crime as to undermine respect for the law.”

Chapman won’t be eligible for parole again for another two years.

Chapman, 59, is serving a 20-year to life sentence at upstate Wende Correctional Facility after shocking the world by gunning down the former Beatle in 1980 as Lennon returned home from a late night recording session with wife Yoko Ono.

In its decision, the Parole panel, which interviewed the notorious inmate on Wednesday, alluded to the fact that hours before his death, the singer had autographed a copy of his new album for Chapman.

Let Chapman rot in prison til he’s dead. Whatever his flaws, John Lennon would have improved the world considerably had he lived his life out naturally. Chapman is garbage.

Now that Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan are gone, only Stephen King can clear Chapman’s name. But will he? Will he?

That kind of thing sticks with you. Though, I had to look it up to remember the exact claims.

I remember he’d call in to various late night talk shows and it was usually a race to see how fast they could dump him. Sometimes they’d let him talk, but it was evident that he had a few screws loose.

Wow, sounds like the rantings of someone very bi-polar, but mostly in the manic state.

I can argue that John Lennon is partially responsible for the twisted world view that tons of people have. John Lennon was a disgusting hippy drug addict liberal moon bat.

Too bad he was killed, it really is. If he were still alive, you’d have more people praising the “co-exist” ideology, while they are being decapitated by rusty knives.

You don’t buy that he was a Reagan-loving conservative at the end? Me neither. I imagine (no pun intended) that we would like him about as much as we like Sean Penn and Alec Baldwin were he still alive.

I’m not a Beatles fan. I actually like their solo stuff more, including some of the stuff off of Double Fantasy, when he actually had backed way off on the political stuff (at least, the tracks I’ve heard; I’m no expert). I despise Imagine. Communist Manifesto set to music.

HAH! Lennon, a CONSERVATIVE? Give me a break. He was one of the biggest drug addicts of that time, everything that came from his mouth besides his music was BS. All the peace and love and no religion BS. Evil, naive, a very dangerous little man solely for the fact that his drug addled fans basically would eat up any of the BS spewing from the orifice he called his mouth.

I’d be willing to wager, most of the morons in charge right now LOVE LENNON. They subscribe to his dangerous, naive world view. Societies are different, cultures are different, not every race is created equally. That’s just a fact. People like LENNON think everyone is of the same mind, which is a very dangerous think to assume.

Chapman better be held for the rest of his life for his own safety.

If you actually want to know the truth Lennon was maturing and was coming around to a more sane, conservative way of thinking. You can even see him wising up in the lyrics to “Revolution”

It has been written by people who knew him that he was becoming disillusioned by liberals and the hippie movement. Who knows, by now he could have been just as conservative and wise as anyone here.

If Sirhan Sirhan had strolled into the kitchen of the Ambassador Hotel on June 6, 1968 and shot and killed the cook and two waiters he’d be a free man driving a cab in LA today.

If Chapman had murdered one of us would he have even served the entire 20 years?

If Chapman had shot Yoko, he’d be a free man now...and a national hero.

Agreed, there was John Lennon, walking down the street, harming no one and this man just murdered him.

Why should Chapman, or anyone like him, be free?

I don’t care if you killed a famous person or not, just stay in prison.

Be a good person there, if you’ve reformed. If it’s one thing prison needs it’s more good people, so just do that.

Or not, I don’t care, but stay put.

“I despise Imagine. Communist Manifesto set to music.”

Yes, agreed. But John Lennon just wrote the song, it is the stupid world who turned it into an all purpose anthem just because people are too stupid and lazy to listen to the LYRICS.
