The Pentagon said Friday that a Chinese fighter jet made several passes by a U.S. Navy aircraft earlier this week off the coast of China in international airspace, baring its weapons and coming within mere feet of the U.S. plane.
Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby said...Not only is it unprofessional, its unsafe, Kirby said.

Nothing worse than unprofessionalism in the air.
Maybe I am not familiar enough with the Air Force jargon, but just how does a fighter jet "bare it's weapons" ?
That’s exactly what I was thinking of.
“You were in a 4G inverted dive with a MIG 28? At what range?”
I wondered which side flipped the other one the ‘bird’?
Splash that sucker, yeah!
“Thanks to Obama and the rest of the democrats, the entire world sees us as weak”
Exactly right, I was just in mainland China last month. I had a Chinese fellow walk up as I was at a ferry terminal, asked if I was American. Then he told me “Obama is pussy...Obama weak man!”
He got no argument but I did tell him not to make the same mistake the Japanese made when they perceived weakness in 1941. That did not end well for them.
And we will give them worthless little pieces of green paper in return.
He must have the guy they put in charge of supplies
The predecessor of the P-8 (two generations ago), the P2-V, carried 5" Zuni rockets for holing the hulls of surfaced enemy subs. The Israelis (I'm told) used to equip Sikorsky CH-53D helos with Shrike anti-radiation missile and hunt Arab anti-aircraft radars.
Back in the '70's we ran air-to-air trials at China Lake of a CH-53 with (simulated) Sidewinders against all the fighters in our inventory. 50% kills
Arming a P-8 should not be a problem. Having a few F/A-18 Hornets around is a MUCH better solution.
5 internal and 6 external stations for AGM-84H/K SLAM-ER, AGM-84 Harpoon, Mark 54 torpedo, missiles, mines, torpedoes, bombs, and a High Altitude Anti-Submarine Warfare Weapon system
I was in Savannah once upon a time, and I saw probably about a dozen P-3s coming in from their patrol, landing at Hunter Army Airfield.

Adding an AMRAAM is easy. Using it effectively may not be. You’d need a big fat radar for it. Im not sure if the P-8’s radar is optimized for it as its most likely dedicated for the littoral, surface surveillance role.
That still draws a gafaw!
Are you originally from FL?
This is an admiral? Sounds more like a hall monitor.
I want Reagan back.

As I recall, the last time the Chinese Air Force came up to play dodge ‘em cars with an EP-3C, the Chinese fighter crashed and the USN EP-3C made an emergency landing. Apparently, this Chinese “top gun” ace was better at playing dodge ‘em cars with the Navy P-8A.
ChiCom chinks getting cheeky with a pansy in the White House.
And afterward, they went back to China to develop weapons to take advantage of any vulnerabilities they saw, such as thermal exhaust ports, heh-heh.
PING!
I have serious doubts they fly unarmed, other than Marines with sidearms to kill the NSA types when it goes down...
