The brother sounds level-headed. Says the US (Obama) could have done more to get his brother released. From the interview I don't think he has much use for the teleprompter-in-chief. He looked disgusted when uber liberal Couric mentioned the failed rescue attempt. I think Couric was kind of thrown off because he didn't praise her hero. Hopefully he'll realize that democrats have no clue on how to deal with evil because they close their eyes and pretend it's not real.

Don’t be fooled. He was thinking of giving ISIS the ransom they wanted, not vaporizing their useless carcasses.

I always am ambivalent when I read stories like this. Obama is incompetent and I sympathize with the family, but you are always going to get family members like this saying the government could have done more. Of course it could, but it may not be in America’s interest to bend over backward to get hostages released, especially ones who willingly went into these danger zones. If we get that reputation, more Americans will get kidnapped.

As a photojournalist. I feel for foley. I respect his desire to go “get the story.” But I would not expect the government to raise a finger to save me.

The rest of the world doesn’t care about the media. His life is worth no more or no less than anyone else who puts their lives in harms way.

Its also important for journalists and liberals to understand that they aren’t somehow “above it all” when they go to dangerous areas of the world.

He’s right. The US government could have done more. Given that it controls the curricula in public schools and universities, it most certainly could have ensured that students be taught an accurate picture of radical Islam and the associated dangers thereof. I’m not holding my breath, though.

What about doing more to protect the innocent Christian children being massacred?

Not the government’s job. Maybe the family could have done an ice bucket challenge. (Nothing against ALS patients or research for a cure) Obama made it very clear when he released five terrorist killers in exchange for Bergdahl—he did that because Bergdahl was “in uniform.” Regardless, negotiating with terrorists invites more kidnappings. Viral social media nonsense invites dangerous ideas from terrorists.

The proper response to Foley's public execution is to pound the living snot out of those animals in as many places for a solid week as a reprisal. Cause & effect.

The Obama administration did the exact opposite.

James Foley’s brother: The U.S. could have done more for Jim

Sorry for your loss Mike but you're thinking about the OLD, pre-fundamentally transformed America.

obama won’t lift a finger to help the Marine imprisoned in Mexico, much less a white oppressor held by ISIS

Too bad Obama could not trade more terrorists from Gitmo for Foley. He would have been out in a flash.

You go to the Middle East, you take your chances. The US government shouldn’t be on the hook for your choices, unless the government sends you there.

Sure. We could have done something along the lines of giving them arms for the hostages. We know how the press loved Reagan for that.

He said “The Government”, not Obama.

If he had said Obama, Katie would have had an Aneurysm.

Had Obama stopped ISIS in its tracks when they first entered Iraq, THOUSANDS of lives would have been spared, including his Brother's.

Time for this guy to man up and blame The One. If Bush was running things, he would have blamed him, not “The Government”.

Because they don;t want people to see that they are the same.

Sounds suspiciously like he thinks the US should have paid a ransom (or anything) to retrieve his brother-maybe I’m wrong?
