A consumer group is predicting a rush for powerful vacuum cleaners as an EU ban on many best-performing products looms.
Which? said that from September 1, companies will be unable to manufacture or import any vacuums with motors above 1,600 watts under rules designed to boost energy efficiency and tackle climate change.

Ever figure how much time government-mandated 'replacements' foisted upon an unwilling populace actually waste in amounts of our time we will never get back?
Light bulbs--less efficient, more time trying to make use of poor light.
Cars--less power, slower, more time spent traveling instead of arriving earlier.
Toilets--More than one flush? Wait for the tank to refill, some take several.
Vacuum cleaners--less suction equals repeated attempts to remove dirt.
Net loss? Time off your life spent because brainless twits who think they know what's best are somehow still in charge of running the world. Aren't you as tired of these idiots forcing their ignorance on us under the auspices of law? They know nothing, and just look at their source of information--the media, and what an absolutely infallible bastion of knowledge THEY are--easily and quickly proven merely by reading their work! Then they take that misinformation and use it to seem like they're knowledgeable on the subject at hand.
NOW needs to be all over this if it comes to the US.
Another way of keeping women to to housework. When wattage
drops to 900 watts in 2017 that means 2x the work.
(Only 1/2 kidding)
I remember the first time I saw all these cars with “Koons” on the back. Thought ‘My God! How do they get away with that in Northern Va?”
Only when my parents bought a new car did I realize Koons was the dealership. :)
...or add a pinch if TSP. :)
Same as low flush toilets, cut the volume and flush twice. Reduce the suck and vacuum longer.
Brilliant.
But not as much.
I can see it now, Introducing the new and well.... Introducing the new suckless vacuum.
Next they’ll be going back to the vacuums that had the plunger that you pulled and no motor at all.
Don’t forget the low flush toilets and the side load washing machines.
Ergo, it is a liberal mandate.
Dump the chamberpots in the street, wear the clothes until they drop off your body ...
LOL
"Embrace liberalism. We really do suck less!"
"Really? They attempted to change the WEATHER? By outlawing VACCUUM CLEANERS? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAA"
And so on.
A real-world solution for a non-existent problem.
“EU bans powerful vacuum cleaners based on the belief that it is more environmental for Europeans to live in filth.”
France must have banned deodorant (/s)
"To meet the Government regulations, I had to get the extra pieces ..."
I drilled out the restrictor in the shower head so now it comes out like a fire hose. I hate it when I have to use a wimpy hotel/motel shower that just barely drips water compared to mine at home.
Publish a “suck per watt” number for each appliance and then increase that number year by year just like the auto CAFE standards....:^)
