And that goes to the heart of the real issue. It isn’t just about class; it is also about culture. There is an attitude in some communities of “you owe me”, an attitude that when one is growing up one’s parents don’t work or are always between jobs, always trying to “get from the man what was taken.” One isn’t encouraged at age 15 to save money and get a job, but rather to “take.” And we saw that attitude in the Michael Brown video where he goes into a shop and takes “what’s his” and throws the elderly owner out of the way.
There are different cultures. There is the culture of the middle-aged owner of that shop, who probably worked from a young age; and the attitude of Michael Brown who stole cigars and pushed those who dared oppose him out of his way.
I saw that growing up in Maine, which is one of the poorer states in the union and is predominantly white. There are sub-cultures of people who never work who are always sitting around drinking and who are in and out of law enforcement “problems.” And there are people who are raised from a young age to work hard.

Very good point, but there's another factor that's actually very ironic: affluence.
Let's face it ... The kind of mentality you describe in your post and that you see on full display in rioting scenes in Ferguson would never be seen in most places because only an affluent society could ever tolerate it. In almost any other society, people who are so useless and emotionally stunted would have been cast out into the wilderness or tossed into volcanoes years ago.
You haven’t named a single genetic factor there. People raised in a violent culture become violent—there is nothing genetic about that.
I know and work with many black people. I’ve yet to see a violent black person.
Take the racism somewhere else, please.

You have drunk the cool aid. Sure, some violence is a family problem. Some addiction comes from living in a bad neighborhood. But nothing even close to these factors can explain the disparity of violent crime by race. See below.

Only partly--as in you can't fix stupid. But, there's also some truth to the phrase "shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in three generations." (or four--I've seen it in friends and relatives).
Culture in the sense this poster describes is class. Americans like to think of ‘class’ as economic only, but it is often fairly described as “socioeconomic” because of the correlation with economic status. But pure social class is what he is terming as “culture”. They are in effect one and the same.

Don’t confuse cultural effects with race. Just because a majority of people living in a specific culture are of a particular race, does not make the resulting behavior genetic.
The *only* way you could claim that the behavior is a result of genetics (specific to that race) is if you could compare two different racial groups who have exactly the same culture and document differences in behavior that cannot be explained by any other cause.
The Vikings used to be brutes who caused fear wherever they went, because of their little habit of stealing, raping, murdering, and burning everything they couldn’t take with them. Yet here I am, married to a descendent of Vikings...and I am not at all afraid, nor have I ever seen him engage in those Viking behaviors. And I have never met a Norwegian who did not act civilized.
I can assure you that there are more violent whites in my mixed neighborhood than violent blacks (our next door neighbor has issues). And last I checked, the violent Islamists are still white.
Genetics is not destiny, but culture is.
Ferguson apparently has no class so it has to be culture.

I come from a tiny farm a mile off the nearest two lane blacktop and about ten miles from the site of the first secession meeting here in the “Cradle of the Confederacy”. Born in 1944, learned to walk behind the plow by age ten and joined the USN straight out of high school to find easier work. I have crawled the cotton rows with a sack pulled by a strap over my shoulder and I have done it with white people and with black people.
I agree, take the racism somewhere else and I say it to all races. I don’t believe that any race is born with a genetic disposition to violence, theft or murder. It may be true of individuals but when looking at an entire group it is a matter of culture, not genetics. Many of the sweetest, kindest, most wonderful people I have ever known are black people and some of the most awful excuses for human beings that I have ever known were also black, I can say the same for white people and some of those awful excuses, black, white and other races are running our government at all levels now.
The KKK in their wildest dreams couldn’t do the kind of harm to blacks that the Thug Culture has.
Don’t confuse my observation as implying that there are no other populations who have the genetic propensity for violence. There are others, certainly. But, any study of sub-Saharan Africa and the conduct of its population after migration will support this thesis. Its just an inconvenient truth.
PS: sorry about your neighborhood. But, with 13% of the population, young male blacks committing 54% of the violent crimes cannot be ignored. Is it any wonder that no progress has been made by the billions of dollars wasted on cultural remedies?
