Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon is a national embarrassment

As new details regarding the death of 18-year-old Ferguson, Mo., resident Michael Brown slowly come to light, some casting doubt on previous media narratives, Gov. Jay Nixon, D-Mo., has proven to be nothing short of a national embarrassment.

Indeed, from his tardy response to an event that occurred nearly two weeks ago to his fumbling remarks regarding Darren Wilson, the officer at the center of the tragedy, Nixon’s handling of the volatile and often violent situation in Ferguson has been inexcusable.

“From the outset, I have been clear about the need to have a vigorous prosecution of this case, and that includes minimizing any potential legal uncertainty,” he said Tuesday in a statement posted online.

This remark is problematic for two reasons.

First, the governor has not been clear “from the outset” on the situation in Ferguson. As I have noted, Nixon shamefully hid from the initial chaos following Brown’s death, responding only after the outcry from the media became too great to ignore.

“If people got things to say, they’ll say them, and if people from the news media want to cover stuff and take pictures of things, they ought to do it. We live in a free country,” Nixon eventually said at a gathering that took place a full five days after the shooting. “That voice needs to be heard, and we want to help make sure that it is heard. It doesn’t much matter to me how respectful it is, it’s just got to be safe.”

Second, Nixon's “vigorous prosecution” remarks have confused good-faith efforts made by investigators to get to the bottom of the shooting, leading to confusion over whether the Missouri governor had called for the prosecution of Wilson.

Indeed, Nixon’s remarks were so unclear that a spokesman for his office was forced to clarify

Agreed!

The job doesn't pay enough to risk losing one’s life or civil lawsuits, or imprisonment.

Government officials like Nixon need to be aware of this.

“no jobs”

Exactly, I watched some idiot on CBS (I think) complaining that there are not enough jobs for blacks while the video in the background showed rioters and looters destroying the city. Lol.

“He’s a corrupt little bed-wetting wimp. [...] And our government is FULL of these types of people.”

I agree, and I primarily blame the media for this. If there wasn’t the fine-toothed-comb, holier-than-thou treatment of normal, conservative-leaning people versus the powder-puff treatment of communists and socialists, we would have more normal, real people in elective office. Instead, we get psychotic, infantile, mentally broken people with no moral compass and no intellectual powers at all.

We need a “purge night” on the media... repeatedly.

You’re absolutely correct. A conservative will draw every nutty headline and opinion written as reportage, while the Leviathan and Lefties get a pass.

Purge night?

I agree...Yep the media is a big part of the U.S. leadership decline.

It’s jammed full of brain scrubbed leftist academics, college kids who never grew up and assorted people who just simply hate America as it used to be. Back when the country had morals, global respect, an ascending standard of living with a united people.

Back when the public schools actually educated people without non-stop leftist political indoctrination.

Ya, we had issues way back then, but absolutely nothing compared to what has gained control of the media and leadership positions coast to coast...

It’s another reason their Communist friends and associates have pushed unlimited, uncontrolled reckless immigration policies on the U.S. in the past 50 years...

From city councils to the Oval Office. It’s like the mentally ill and the corrupt evil being supported by public educated easily led morons have gained total control. Total malfunction and chaos.

Throw in their extreme leftist controlled television media mouth pieces and it’s the freakish dysfunctional circus we see today...
