The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has issued a bulletin drawing attention to the hactivist group Anonymous plans for nationwide protests against the police shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo.
The group has called for a National Day of Rage on Thursday to span 38 major U.S. cities.
The Threat Management Division of the Federal Protective Service issued the bulletin.
Currently there is no indication that protests are expected to become violent. However, recent protests in Ferguson have resulted in violence, property damage and subsequent arrests, the bulletin reads.
Brown was shot by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson on Aug. 9. Wilson reportedly claims Brown assaulted and charged after him. Some witnesses claim that Brown was surrendering when Wilson fired.
Current civil unrest associated with the incident in Ferguson, MO, presents the potential for civil disobedience directed toward identifiable law enforcement personnel, marked law enforcement equipment and government facilities associated with law enforcement during the identified protest times and dates, it continues.
One complaint made by protesters, the media and Anonymous is that police in Ferguson have not only failed to provide transparency to the events surrounding the shooting but that they have also dealt harshly with the demonstrations by using tear gas, rubber bullets, military vehicles and curfews to keep the crowds at bay.
In its bulletin, the Federal Protective Service went to great lengths to remind agencies to respect peaceful demonstrators rights.
FPS personnel are reminded the Department of Homeland Security does not consider non-violent civil disobedience tactics to constitute criminal activities. Absent a specific actionable threat, you should refer to the list of suspicious activity indicators in identifying and mitigating threats, the bulletin reads.
We are Anonymous. We are legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us, once again, the hacker collective threatened in a video it posted Tuesday.
Besides generating outrage, mostly on Twitter, the group has also tried to play sleuth in its attempt to determine the name of the officer who shot Brown. Darren Wilson was named as the shooter last Friday. But prior to that, Anonymous published the names of at least two other people not involved in the case.
It is unacceptable for an officer to be named and then let go. St. Louis County identified Darren Wilson as Mike Browns murderer, yet he has not been charged or prosecuted. In addition, reports say that if he is charged it wont happen for another few months. This is not justice, they continued.
The truth is we cannot sit still and watch as protesters and journalists are arrested and shot at simply for raising their voices in unison and demanding that justice be served.
Aug. 21 is our day to rise up. Our presence will continue unless our demands are met, the group threatened in their video.
They will tear their own neighborhoods apart knowing politicians are scared to death of them and will rebuild their neighborhoods courtesy of taxpayers.
You’re right. It’s not too smart to start a civil war when you are only 12% of the population.
Great. When Wall St. had a “Day of Rage”, we ended up with Occupiers for months. In some places, years.

WHERE is my breakfast?
Sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security?
I will be observing a “National Day Of Poker” at my local casino.
Bill Ayers sent a tweet did he?
Funny how 2 weeks ago the FBI had been bracing for some “flash mob” action about now based on some fictional film where law is suspended for 12 hours and people are free to commit whatever crime they want to (there were FR threads about this).
Sounds like the same mentality and the same sort of anarcho rebellion.
Heck, wasn’t Occupy supposed to rise up the last time they did their stink-ins?
Bring it. There are five men in our house and enough firearms and ammo for a small army.
It is obvious to me and should be to you that Obama and his cohorts mean to wreak this country. Since this is their goal how can you label their actions as failures since each effort brings them closer to their goal of our nation’s destruction?
I see it mentioned often by you and others on FR that Obama fails at this or that, what that tells me is you do not understand the situation or you are covering for him by basically saying he has made mistakes.
These are not mistakes, they are parts of his plan to destroy this country, they are treason.
Yes but do you have any chocolate pecan pie? Personally I think that’s where my priority lies. Gotta have something to eat while waiting for the rage.
What is being done to this country is no accident, it is diabolical, well-planned, and well-executed. Recall the community organizer and see the organization behind this apparent chaos.
This is just the latest in a series of usurpations, injuries, and insults designed to provoke a situation to justify the de facto destruction of our Constitutional Republic and imposition of a dictatorial regime.
Stand fast, America.
That’s all been painfully obvious for the last six years, yet, even at this date, most do not recognize it.
Oh, gee, sorry, I’m washing the dogs this evening so sending my regrets in not being able to attend.
Maybe the government can impose martial law and cure all the woes/s
Yep. Didn’t Val say there’d be hell to pay, after the last election? They’re going full steam ahead with “the plan”.
And where is the list of these oh so lucky 38 cities?
Thanks for that list.
Arsonists, looters, and people throwing projectiles such as Molotov cocktails and urine filled bottles are not peaceful demonstrators. Any one with half a brain is in their house and not outside causing problems or gawking at confrontations.
The majority of the people who live there are staying at home like any sensible person would, and many of those inciting violence are not even from the area.
Next, I am 100% for justice and protection of civil rights, and that includes the numero uno on my list, the presumption of innocence regardless of race, color or creed.
Any one calling the officer a murderer is violating his civil rights. At this point, the officer and the dead person can only be an alleged murderer, victim or whatever. Presumption of innocence until proved guilty.
Transparency doesn't trump accuracy. All sorts of allegations, rumors, and prejudgments do nothing but muddy the true situation.
Lastly, you can bet that this has been organized behind the scenes. Why the shake-down artists have chozen this incident-I don't know. Someone gave the order to descend, and SEIU, Black Panthers, Race Baiters, and Communist sympathizers will no doubt be discovered to be behind all this - just as they were during the 60s.
These people are still hoping to incite a race war. Only time will tell if our churches and other institutions are so weak that they will finally succeed. JMHO.
