Sierra Leone News: No health worker will die of Ebola again-WHO Coordinator
The WHO Coordinator in Kenema district has declared that no health worker will die in the country again because of Ebola infection.
Dr. Jackson Amone said his declaration comes against the backdrop of modalities being put in place to protect health workers. We are sure of their protection this time round; we have educated them adequately on what to do which is insurance for them, the Ugandan born doctor stated.
Dr. Amone was addressing the media at a press briefing held at the Unicef regional office in Kenema. The Ebola expert went on to recommend what he referred to as social distancing which requires not touching anybody, stopping handshakes. He implored all and sundry to desist from sex as much as possible. He also informed on the need for people to report suspicious cases early noting that there is considerable chance of people surviving the disease when they are reported early.
He explained that when someone recovers from the disease he or she should refrain from sex for at least six months or has the chance of infecting other people. He said the virus remains active in a discharged persons blood for at least three months during which if the person has unprotected sex, he or she transmits the virus to the sex partner who then becomes infected. He warned that discharged persons from Ebola treatment centers should not have casual unprotected sex. Studies have shown that the Ebola virus remains active in the semen of man Ebola survivor and in the breast milk of a woman Ebola survivor for at least three months following their discharge. Such people should demonstrate maximum restraint from sex and breastfeeding their babies, Dr. Amone stated. He said Ebola is transmitted by torching, direct torching, getting in contact with the body fluids of patients such as blood, saliva, sweat, milk and semen. He warned patients discharged from Ebola treatment centers against all of these human wastes touching the body of other people.
Dr. Amone says there has been no confirm study showing that once you have contracted Ebola and you have survived you can mount an immunity that will stop you, that is why we say you need to protect yourself again. He disclosed that they have not got any vaccine against Ebola until we get the vaccine then it may be if you have contracted the Ebola then you can develop an Immunity against it, no study has never confirm that, so he advice that you keep safe.
He described viruses as very weak organisms that hardly survive outside their human body habitat. He maintained that whether it is HIV/ AIDS, the Bird Flu virus or Ebola virus, they are all very weak organisms. He said because of their nature, their transmission is very easy. If you torch a patient, wash your hands immediately afterwards, Dr. Amone warned, stating that they are easily killed by soap and chlorine. He however could not say how influential an environment determines how long a virus can live.
The District Medical Officer (DMO) Kenema, Dr. Mohamed Vandy describes Dr. Jackson Amone as a doctor with vast experience in Ebola outbreaks in his home country of Uganda, where he was a senior official in the Health Ministry.
He said since the arrival of the WHO expert he has held several meetings with health officials and staff on the ground to reassure them and rebuild their confidence level. He said the Ugandan has also conducted a number in-service trainings for nurses and other support staff attached to isolation and treatment centers.

WHO Doctor talking tough ‘bout dat puny Ebola bug
I bless you, I bless you, I bless you...
Okay. You’re safe!
Shaking head...
I am absolutely opposed to absolute statements.
That’s a bold statement there, doc.
Not gonna happen.
That shouldn't be funny, but I did laugh. Yikes.
Once is usually all it takes.
Geez.
Have they lined up witch doctors to cast spells of protection?

Baghdad Bob works for the WHO now?
another 'training accident....'
The only way that this is likely to be true is if:
(a) All health workers are already dead
(b) Infected health workers are to be shot before they succumb to the effects of the virus
(c) All health workers have been exiled to prevent further infection
Since we are talking about Africa here, none of the three would surprise me much

Hmmmm !!!!!
.
So, we’re calling it “the flu” now?
Yeah, I got a chuckle about the “torching”. Thought about changing it or marking it (sic) but who am I to violate the sanctity of the press. ;>)
another 'training accident....'
I suspect WHO has started playing with the numbers recently. And now that WHO's corporate HQ, the. U.N. Has gotten themselves involved means that those wolves foresee huge $$$$$ entering the cash flow.
Wonder where the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is in all of this? Anybody heard from them?
“Sierra Leone News: No health worker will die of Ebola again”
That’s only because all the health workers are already dead. (a little satire)
In a warehouse running all the money through a steam cleaner.
