"Appalled"? Really? Gee, why didn't President Obama go all out and announce that he was "dismayed" by the ISIS beheading of an American journalist. Was "appalled" really the strongest reaction this administration could muster? Apparently, yes. Here was the White House statement: "we are appalled by the brutal murder of an innocent American journalist, and we express our deepest condolences to his family and friends."
Let's try out a statement that an American president who truly represented our nation's values and interests might have issued: "The search is underway for those who were behind these evil acts. I have directed the full resources of our intelligence and law enforcement communities to find those responsible and to bring them to justice. We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them." Oh, wait. Can't have that. That was the statement that President George W. Bush delivered on September 11, 2001.

Unfortunately, even if Obama could bring himself to say something like that, the world has learned that his words are empty, and he wouldn't follow through with it.

Daniel Greenfield of Frontpage is reporting that Foley was Jihadi-friendly. He’s got a few of his twitter comments posted. This story is like truly entering the heart of darkness.
Frontpage is running with this story. There are several tweets of his on that site. I need more before I totally believe the story.
I will say I was VERY uncomfortable listening to Foley’s final comments condemning his own brother who is in the military.
Obama isn’t viscerally attached to America or to humanity. He’s as bland as white bread. At best this is because of his pseudo intellectual pose attained from all his years in academia. At worst it’s an indication of just how blasé he is about other humans and his duties.

This seems like an opportune time to remind everyone what my tag-line would read if FR allowed a bit more space:

He made this prophetic utterance when the kangaroo court in the Hague refused to allow him to show those assembled in the court pictures of Bosniak and foreign jihadis exulting over piles of severed Serb heads during the wars of the Yugoslav dissolution. The first clause was certainly prophetic. I hope the second is, though from the blather issuing from the White House, Foggy Bottom and Downing Street, it’s not clear whether the “you” extends to the Western “elites” whom Milosevic was addressing quite yet.
