Ferguson, Mo. Ferguson city leaders urged people to stay home after dark Tuesday to "allow peace to settle in" and pledged to try to improve the police force in the St. Louis suburb where the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown has sparked nightly clashes between protesters and police.
In a public statement, the city said the mayor, the City Council and employees have been exploring ways to increase the number of African-American applicants to the law enforcement academy, develop incentive programs to encourage city residency for police officers and raise money for cameras that would be attached to patrol car dashboards and officers vests....

are these Fergie "leaders" saying a black officier under similar circumstances not do the same thing?....have they already convicted the cop?....
I think non minority cops are crazy to work with minority populations......why do the dirty work?....let the minority population do the heaving lifting....lie down with dogs...you know the rest....let them have their cake and eat it too...
It’s way too late for any of that. Worked at the unemployment office for two decades. Once people get the lazy bug or grow up with it, they’re practically worthless.
I imagine you’re not alone.....people had better wake up and smell the coffee....better to pay more to live safe and peacefully than to live cheap and be in fear of your life daily.

I can remember back in the 80's, New York State was looking to hire more minorities into the State Police. In order to get the needed minority recruits qualified to take and pass the test, they ended up having to provide them with remedial reading classes.
That was a funny show.

Lower the standards as much as needed for the affirmative action candidates to graduate the Academy ... as per usual.

It doesn’t makes sense to give up on them before you even try to correct the economy.
So they weren’t acting this way before the economy went bad? I was describing the go-go 80’s and 90’s there. The economy back then was 10X better than now, but the welfare class hasn’t changed very much. Go visit a welfare, food stamp, social security, food bank or unemployment office in your area for only an hour then let me know what you think.
The most obvious lowering of standards occurs with female “cops”. In Newark NJ I’ve seen some real heavy hitters (fat booties and all) that couldn’t catch a disabled senior citizen - but dey gettin’ paid!
Ferguson has very high rates of residents below the poverty level, unemployment, etc. Yet, videos show many fairly new autos driving on the streets.
How can such a small city hope to pay for dashcams and cameras on each officer, when they have such a low tax base?
They do have blacks who know how to shoot guns, but can they pass the basic tests to enter a PD academy?
So race really does matter.
Why would whites acquiesce to this?
in about ten years, this municipality will be engaged in a process to rid their police force of all the bad actors that were shoved through the academy in order to meet racial quotas.
I feel bad for people that own homes in this area because they won’t be able to sell for a generation.
That nonsense happens all over the private sector as well. There are tokens everywhere, but it provides job security for the real workers. Unfortunately for blacks, most companies are just opting for Hispanics or white women; soon they will mandate hiring blacks specifically (since it will never happen “naturally”).
