I came back to the stream that night just in time to see the police cart her off. What exactly did she shout to prompt the arrest? As part of a public protest in this situation, she can shout all night, as far as I’m concerned, as long as she’s not encouraging the crowd to attack police or break laws, or herself break laws above and beyond “public nuisance”. If she did do any of the above, then sure, arrest her.
The other problem I see is the graphic, itself. Again, if she threw rocks or bottles or displayed physically violent / legitimately physically dangerous behavior, ok, no problem. But if she did not, the interpretation of “unarmed woman on the ground with firepower pointed at her that can blow her head off”, by the average person, much less blacks who’ve been conditioned to feel “oppressed”, is going to be very negative. The police threatening with heavy artillery for the slightest offense is not a good thing. From what I’d seen and heard earlier, she was an obnoxious loudmouth, not Al Capone.
If I missed something, and I may have, I’d be interested in what it was.

It really doesn’t matter why she was detained. For some, there will never be enough of a reason. She did what she was told to do, I’m sure. And, I might add, she was very good at it!
