Sure, let’s cap it at two billion rounds.
I don’t know if there is a limit to the amount of ammunition one can possess in New Jersey, but I know there are fire codes adopted by most municipalities limiting the amount of highly combustible materials one can store in the home like smokeless powder, primers, etc. and regulations on how they must be stored. Most metallic cartridge reloaders I know are probably in violation of these rules.
Since this is New Jersey, I figure this guy has a couple handguns, a handfull of rifles and shotguns and a case of ammo for each, thereby constituting in the minds of the average New Jersey official a dire threat existential threat to the entire Eastern Seaboard. Probably not a lot more than a good number of FReepers shoot off in a good month of range time.
To enforce a limit, they have to track it.
Sorry. Not acceptable.
I think it is fair to point out that you should never invite the authorities into your house if it can be avoided at all.
Was it unreasonable for them to use the jaws of life on two gun safes?
I bet you they are bummed they didn’t find a mary jane plant so they could seize the house.
I’ll rephrase the question: “Should crashingly ignorant people in the government be given the power to regulate yet another thing they don’t understand?” No.
Yes! There should be and in practice is a perfectly good limit.
People should own no more ammo than they can afford, or get credit to purchase.
Live within your means.
YES! No one should have more bullets than the number of elementary particles in the Universe. If you find someone with more, then throw the book at him, for all I care.
There should definitely be a limit on the amount of ammo owned by the federal government, and on agencies that can have it. We need limits now.
Only if there is a limit on the number of words a “journalist” can type.
How much you can own? No. Where and how its stored? Yes.
At a certain point its a zoning issue. Storing two tons of black powder in an apartment building is in the same category as zoning pig lots to outside the city limits.
That said, most “massive arsenals of ammunition” are less than 10,000 rounds, which isn’t that dangerous. Stored outside of a safe (which it shouldn’t be in) smokeless powder isn’t really an explosive hazard, but rather a fire hazard, same as gasoline.
Here in the South, there is freedom. I, like many people I know, not only have a sufficient stockpile of ammo, we can reload more, and have the supplies and equipment to do so.
I don't plan to ever again cross the Ben Franklin Bridge into that hellhole.
Stop bogartin’ the ammo........
Gunpowder is NOT ammunition, it is one COMPONENT of ammo. It is also generally not explosive, instead being a propellant.
Yes, no less than 1000 rounds for every firearm you own.
You can never have too many guns or enough ammunition.
Theyll start out with a large number to placate people - who needs more than 100,000 rounds..
Then itll be who needs 50,000 rounds.
Then 20,000 rounds..
Then 10,000..
Then 5,000..
Pretty soon well be all Barney Fife
In Norway, you are limited to 10,000 rounds any caliber and an extra 5,000 for .22s. Haven’t figured out how to divide that between my .308, 12 & 20 gauges (w/ a bird, buck & slug mix)
Should there be a limit to how much ammunition a person can own?
Thank you for voting!
