Today’s music reflects a lot of what’s going on in the headds of the kids.

Dark times, dark music.

Some of it is decent. But the “guitarist” aspect of it is missing. Where are the new Carlos Santanas, Uncle Teddys, Blackmores, Gary Moores (RIP, Gary), Rory Gallagher (RIP), Stevie Ray Vaughns (RIP)?

Nothing on the horizon that I’ve heard. And that’s a shame.

If you pick up an instrument, LOVE it and be the best you can be at it.

Same as anything else you set your hand to.

This is an opportune time for someone, or a lot of someones, to step forward and really shake the music world down to its foundation. Things have been stale for so long, with the same ol' gangster rap, bubblegum pop, death metal, and boring-a** "Americana" (folk) garbage, that someone with a fresh sound could really blow the doors off.

Not everyone is a fan of Guns n' Roses -- I am -- but there's no denying that in '87, when rock n' roll had gotten old and stale, those guys came along and shook things up. Unfortunately, just a few years later, Nirvana came in like a tornado and everyone forgot how to play songs with more than three chords and lyrics that weren't mumbled. Since then, a few decent bands have come out, like Brother Cane, Velvet Revolver, and Caroline's Spine, but for the most part, rock n' roll has been in a death spiral. Time for someone to step up and shake the Earth again.

I agree...RIP Gary Moore. That man could shred until his fingers were glowing, then slow it down and play blues with so much soul, I'd be close to tears. We lost a good one there.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
