A terrifying helmet cam video, released to the public Wednesday, depicts a SWAT team executing a search warrant on the home of a 68-year-old woman and her 18-year-old adopted daughter. The video is raising questions of privacy, reasonable force and police due diligence. They had the wrong place.
The raid of Louise Milan and daughter Stephanie Milans Evansville, Ind. home was accompanied by the sound of shattering glass and multiple flash-bang grenades. It was all due to the Milans non-password protected Internet router, according to the Evansville Courier & Press.
The raid was prompted by a series of threatening posts directed at police chief Bolin. The officers left the Milan residence with the familys computers and cell phones. An examination of there items revealed their innocence. A neighbor had tapped into their non-secure router to send the threats.

Become one and raise their IQ.
Hey police! I know you don’t want complicated thoughts to get in the way of your bang bang shoot the a$$holes fun, but here’s a thought. An IP address is not a person.
Kinda like a “telephone number.” The telephone number is not a person. Get it? I don’t think I can simplify it any more.
You need ONE MORE thing before you go after a person. SOME indication as to the identity of the individual.
BTW, look at a lot of pictures of TV remotes. They don’t have a trigger or a barrel. They aren’t guns. So don’t shoot the old man reaching for the remote to mute the sound.
OH, and a lot of old people are deaf, so don’t shoot a hole through their hearing aids when you decide the hearing aid is a gun.
This Ramboed-up-flash-banging-breaking-down-old-lady's-doors crap needs to stop NOW!
Its undermining legitimate law enforcement operations. If these over-the-top Rambo ops aren't nipped in the bud then Ferguson type reactions will become the normal response to these incidents but it will instead be directed at those in charge. And when the mob stops looting and instead starts dragging the cops and their masters out into the street for some severe attitude adjustment it's gonna take a major shakedown to put that genie back in the bottle!
The German police weren’t afraid to show their faces, unlike the guys in post#3.
And people claim the Nazis were defeated in WWII
Civilized people have been playing whack-a-mole with Nazis for over 70 years.Beat ‘em down one place and they pop up somewhere else.
Oh wow...poor people.
Truth: “wrong house” does not give the cops a free pass to do anything they want. They are completely responsible, civilly, and criminally, for anything they do to the wrong person. Apologies are no good. Criminal and/or civil remedies are the only way.
The innocent person has the right to protect himself and his family. The innocent person has the right to use force for protection. There will be a clash of forces. If the innocent person is injured or killed, the innocent person has been murdered.
What a relief to see thinking, accurate posts when faced with police malfeasance, even just possible police malfeasance, instead of blind devotion to the cops who are rapidly degenerating into the thugs they are professing to chase.
I tried to say that I didn’t trust the Ferguson police in the recent case and I was accused of supporting a heinous gangbanger over and over again. There was only two ways. Support the police or support the animals. Couldn’t be that I found fault with BOTH and didn’t support EITHER?!!
B-b-b-but there’s some thugs on the streets of Ferguson. We HAVE to have an oppressive police force.
I mean, you know, what were the threats?
Were they, what do they say “specific” threats? Or was it “I’m going to get you” stuff?
Was it thought to be tea party related, like: you deserve to be rejected by the voters?
You’d think they might have checked these people out a little bit, to see if it seemed reasonable they were making the threats. Don’t they have an IT guy who could explain to them the postings might not have come from that exact location?
This is just off the top of my head, so I’m wondering why the professional crime investigators didn’t think of any of it.
No can do, chief - the cops screen out applicants whose IQs are too high.
Totally unnecessary. Could have been handled by a couple of deputies and a polite knock on the door. Sadly it will continue until someone has to pay out of their own pocket instead of the taxpayers.
So, cheat on the test and show everyone how it is done.
By the way, there is no national standard for testing. So, find a department, test and become one, raise their IQ, do the job well, serve as an example.
Let me know how it goes.
You are a very silly man, and I’m not going to interview you.
“You are a very silly man, and Im not going to interview you.”
So, you are afraid to serve as a police officer and chase bad guys. Check.
Interview me? Waaaa?
I may be silly but you are hilarious.
Darth Varders troopers would be proud of these guys, smashing thru the front door, glass all over an then laughing it up after they found nothing
