FERGUSON, Mo. — After another night of chaos in a St. Louis suburb roiled by protests over the police killing of Michael Brown, one shooting victim is in critical condition and seven are under arrest.
Capt. Ron Johnson of the Missouri Highway Patrol said early Sunday a large force was deployed amid a curfew and protests in Ferguson after police received a report that a person had been shot.
Officers had learned through intelligence sources that a group of armed protesters were holed up in a barbecue restaurant. By the time police arrived, the shooting victim, whom Johnson did not identify, had been taken to a hospital by protesters. The victim is in critical condition, he said.
Tear gas was fired, Johnson said, after officers spotted a man with a handgun in the middle of the street. The man fled and was not caught, and officers did not arrest any armed protestors. However, seven people were arrested and charged with “failure to disperse,” he said.
A shot was also fired at a police car, Johnson said, though his staff had yet to determine whether the vehicle was hit. It’s unclear who fired the shot....

My understanding is that business folk in Ferguson peeled his ass for not coming to their aid. MO HP in the hot seat as well. One week running now and this thing has yet to play out...
Or unless Brown bent down. I don’t know what the truth is but his associate may well be lying his butt off about what happened. I would like to know if anyone else nearby saw it the same way. I have seen some things that some cops have done that are similar, they may have had some history or Brown may have let his alligator mouth get his hummingbird ass killed. I would like the plain unvarnished truth and that is all.
I’m losing any respect I may have had for the Missouri Highway Patrol.
They apparently just stood and watched the looting.

I’d just LOVE to know who gave that order? Nixon? The Capt. in charge on scene? Had to come from on high. One HP Officer in front of a business, armed with a riot gun, would dissuade most idiots from trying to enter the business. Sad, sad day for MO HP. And the good folks of StL.
Dorian Johnson lied to the FBI. Some of his lies are easily contradicted by cell-phone videos of the scene.
Mike Brown was shot as he was facing the police officer. It appears from his position that he was advancing toward the officer and was at a distance of about 15-20 feet when he fell. Mike Brown was not shot in the back.
Mike Brown and Dorian Johnson had just robbed a convenience store less than 20 minutes earlier and assaulted a store clerk. Their take? A $50 box of cigars. This was captured on the store video tape.
The officer says that both Brown and Johnson assaulted him in his vehicle, and that Brown attempted to grab the officers gun. A shot was fired inside the vehicle.
The officer said that Brown and Johnson started to run away and the officer commanded them to "Freeze". Brown turned and started advancing toward the officer in a threatening manner. "Bum-rushed" was the description given by the officer. The officer fired a number of shots into Brown, which failed to stop him. The last fatal shot was to the forehead.
Audio tracks from the police radio appear to match the officer's report.
The Press, and the Federal Government have attempted to minimize or actively suppress information that would justify the police shooting. The local police have also ordered their forces to stand down in the face of rioting.
Things aren't working out so well.
The video and audio recordings caused me to change my opinion. The original shooting appears in my view to be fully justified. And Dorian Johnson should be in jail as an accomplice to a robbery.
There is nothing justified in the subsequent riots or the looting. And the "stand-down" orders to the police were stupid beyond comprehension.
I can see why gun stores in the surrounding areas are doing such a brisk business right now.
