Al Gore and Joel Hyatt have filed a lawsuit against Al Jazeera claiming that the news channel is withholding money they were to receive from the sale of the network they co-founded, Current TV.
Al Jazeera relaunched the network as Al Jazeera America last year.
The lawsuit was filed under seal in the Delaware Court of Chancery, but Gore and Hyatt’s attorney David Boies said in a statement, “Al Jazeera America wants to give itself a discount on the purchase price that was agreed to nearly two years ago. We are asking the Court to order Al Jazeera America to stop wrongfully withholding the escrow funds that belong to Current’s former shareholders.”
The lawsuit was filed under seal at the request of Al Jazeera, Boies said, but they have filed a motion to unseal it.
“We do not believe that our complaint should be sealed,” Boies said. “However, despite being a news organization, Al Jazeera America has said that the full complaint should be kept from the public file. We have therefore filed the complaint under seal until the court can resolve this issue. We expect that the court will reject Al Jazeera America’s argument.”
Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore sued Al Jazeera, claiming the satellite news provider owned by the Qatari royal family owes him and a partner $65 million from a deal to buy his network, Current TV, for $500 million.
He's suing in part due to his efforts to maintain the extraordinarily large carbon footprint he's established as part of his profligate lifestyle, increased speech-making agenda that has him pumping untold, increasing amounts of hot air,carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Looks like al Jazeera is just now figuring out they agreed to pay $500 million for a network that might have been worth $15 million, if that. Some serious buyer’s remorse, it appears.

This is too funny. Al Gore has been living high on the hog ever since daddy sold land to Armand Hammer in Carthage, TN years ago.
Al got about 20K a year back in the late 60’s-70’s for the mining rights his daddy sold/ rec’d from Hammer. Gore’s property drained into one of central TN’s best trout “tailwater” streams called the Caney Fork River. The Caney Fork stays cold as the area has Center Hill Lake with TVA opening the dam’s gates/locks to generate electricity. When they open the gates one has maybe 45 minutes max to get off that stream. I have almost not made it across when fly fishing there a mere 10-15 minutes or so after it started. Al lived high on the hog when he lived in the Bellemeade area of Nashville. I am sure he has not changed from having to have the biggest house and use the most energy.
So Al Gore thinks Al Jazeera jewed him out of $65 million.
Yep, I guess he fell for that whole “religion of peace” crap.
