Ferguson police released the name of the officer that fatally shot 18-year-old Michael Brown, while also revealing that Brown was a suspect in a convenience story robbery over a $48.99 box of cigars.
Actually, just about every photo appears as though it could be a gun. It looks like he has one at his stomach, his neck and it really looks like a gun in right hand, bottom right picture.
I see your point. But if the officer was responding to a strong-armed robbery, and Brown was a strong suspect, that is not premature news that needs to be investigated.
It is simply a fact. There was a robbery, and Brown was a suspect. Period.
Oh, but it gets worse. The original report was that Brown was stopped for walking on the street. The Chief left that story float around for almost a week before contradicting it.
That might be proper police procedure (although I don't see it). But it is also terrible PR. And you can't say that PR doesn't matter. It does. No organization can be successful if it cannot manage PR. The police are no different.
Wow. Makes my head hurt.
Because a good professional police department don’t go off half cock and release information that hasn’t been thoroughly checked double check swore proven and investigated. Their job is NOT to provide headlines! Their job is to establish FACTS. Unfortunately you can not do such a thorough investigation at the speed of half-truths, innuendo, supposition and out right bald-face lies that the media is more than willing to print and the race-baiters more than willing to spread.
Probably because he got physical, otherwise just shoplifting.
Your aim is prolly better than mine then.
I had my dentist make a matching grill for my glock. ;-)
I wonder if that box of stolen cigars was in or around the police car as further evidence against the two perps.
Why did the sheriff say the guy was shot from 35 feet?
Well, sure. But either a radio call went out saying there was a strong-arm robbery, and someone fitting Brown's description was a suspect, or such a call didn't go out.
How long would it take to check for sure? A couple of hours at most.
People just don't wait for investigations to be completed. They do have a system, and in this case need to be especially thorough. They'll be releasing the cops photos of his lacerations...and likely the second autopsy of the kid. Plus there's other forensic information to come I'm sure.
However...it doesn't look good for the kid at this point....pretty evident he was roughing the guy up and that took the kid over the threash-hold of simply shop lifting cigars....and he took himself downhill further thereafter.
I think it's important to distinguish between facts and allegations. That somebody, probably Brown, assaulted the store clerk is a fact. The video proves it.
That Brown resisted arrest and assaulted officers is at this point only an allegation. Quite possibly true, but not really proven yet.
Maybe didn’t have the store video to prove some of the situation?
Maybe on a normal day, but in the middle of a riot?
If I a Police Chief went before the cameras before at least 24 hours after such a shooting I call him incompetent and in need of being replaced!
Call us crazy, but some of us want to know all the facts before we condemn the policeman.
>>Why didnt the police release all this info in the beginning?
>>That’s what I can’t figure out.
Too busy dealing with all the rioting and looting?
