Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon on Thursday ordered the state Highway Patrol to take over security in Ferguson, the St. Louis suburb roiled by four nights of unrest over the police killing of an unarmed black teenager.
The governor moved after police came under intense criticism for their handling of the protests, including firing tear gas into crowds on Wednesday night and arresting two reporters.
Nixon said that Ferguson in recent days looked “a little more like a war zone, and that’s unacceptable.”
The head of the Highway Patrol, Capt. Ron Johnson, told reporters: “I understand the anger and fear the residents of Ferguson are feeling, and our police officers will respect both of them.”(continued)

Based on my experience, the state troopers are going to amp up the intensity even more...not the most cordial bunch. They may have less military-style equipment, though, so it may improve the optics for awhile.
If you don’t like your Law Enforcement Agency you can get a new one!
Last I checked the Law is The Law no matter who enforces it!

fox2now.com, which has been doing very good coverage of the events there, just said that capt. ron johnson, who is a black man, had met with some of the protesters that were currently protesting, and was currently walking with them while they marched.
Nothing like tear gassing and arresting the media to enhance your credibility. :-)

Over and over we heard “this is not us” “we are not like this”
It is or rather was true. the black residents of Ferguson are all refugees that fled from the city to the county, the suburbs. the migration, the exodus , began a long time ago. it was long enough that the riffraff, the black urban culture of the streets followed.
the sad fact is ........ “we have become like that”.

The correct response to riots is to call in overwhelming force and shut them down. Anything less will further incite the situation. Seriously, you do NOT stand by and let rioters riot, looters loot, and the city burn.
Anything less than an overwhelming response will embolden the criminal thugs running around in the night looting and burning, and further feed into the mob mentality. But, then, we see by the way the media and federal government incite these events and intentionally inflame racial sentiments that this is REALLY what they want to happen.
And the reason why the feral “utes” will not throw rocks and molotov cocktails at state troopers is?? I think the sentiment “F*** ‘tha police!” might not end with a change of agency.
Tonight will tell us a lot about the motives of the crowd.

Lots of people who don’t know better like to quote BS like that from Grossman. Grossman’s claims are just as absurd and mind-numbingly stupid as they sound, and backed by about as much hot air as you’d expect.
The ratio of fire crap needs to die, seriously people, someone calling himself a “Killologist” and claiming to have founded a new field of science called “killology” threw around make-believe numbers to add visceral impact to his false-thesis. Those numbers are fabrications. Grossman was quoting a journalist (Marshall) employed by the army who outright fabricated those numbers.
Quoting Grossman is a good way to prove that you don’t know the first thing about the subject, and that you don’t have the good sense to check your sources before you make absurd claims.
What fraction are new locals that were former but socially unacceptable outsiders from the city should be the question.
