Five days after the death of Michael Brown, an unarmed 18-year-old fatally shot by a local police officer, President Obama joined state and national leaders in calling for changes to how police are dealing with protesters in Ferguson, Missouri, amid continued street clashes.
"I know that emotions are raw right now in Ferguson," President Obama said at a news conference this afternoon. "There is never excuse for violence against the police or for those who would use this tragedy as a cover for vandalism or looting. ... There is also no excuse for police to use excessive force against peaceful protests or to throw protesters in jail."
Obama's comments came as the FBI told ABC News that it issued a warning to police officers that a Black Panther leader was trying to incite violence against law enforcement in Ferguson, a suburb of St. Louis.

Sending in the Just Us department
When the police started attacking people who were protesting *with a permit* and when they started shooting tear gas grenades and rubber bullets at reporters and when they started roughing up reporters and damaging their equipment then it's time for the adults to intervene and tell the locals to back off.
If anything, I think the negative response to the militarized cops is fallout from the Bundy Ranch event. Obama knows that if the cops use excessive force then the mood in this country is to meet unjust force with force.
There's already one person dead and it's time to step back and let this thing cool down before Ferguson becomes synonymous with something else.
They would use the Trayvon narrative but it involved a private citizen with a gun. They want us to rely on government agents with guns for protection so WE don’t need guns. This is a messed up narrative for them.
Go with the race angle.
Obama will fan the flames in order to get blacks to the polls in 3 weeks.
WHAT AN *SSHOLE THIS MAN IS.
Obama is referring to the onging police action, not the first event.
See my previous comment
IIRC, he pulled the same sh** with Tray.
Obama is a POS.
Yes, but he is not referring to the shooting, but to the ongoing police action to contain the violence and looting.
In this case it is important to trace the cause and effect of each action.
The police are overreaching and militarization is frightening, however, some actions they are taking are also justified. In today’s soundbite world each incident is examined individually rather than as a whole.
Overall this event needs to be combined in a case study with the after math of the Boston bomber and the Bundy ranch to show we have government militarism out of control at all levels. Federal, big city, small city. A coalition of African Americans, libertarians and traditional liberals and conservatives to reverse this trend.
So he’s already made his judgement. It should be easy to guess what the “justice” department will do next. I guarantee you they already know the race of the cop, and it is White, and the cop’s a$$ is gra$$.
They didn’t get what they wanted with treyvon/Zimmerman, so they’re giving it another try.
That's what he doesn't want to see?????
So these little bas***** who are animals can take over a town and get away with it.
whoa....dude had something to say!
If I was that cop that shot that kid I’d be heading for Canada. The President declared him guilty.
“The police acted stupidly”
There are some white business owners in that area also, including the owners of a tattoo place which shares a storefront with a gun shop. They went out night before last, armed, and stayed all night to prevent their businesses from being attacked. a Dollar Store in the same strip mall was destroyed. The police saw them and just left them to it, thankfully. It would be a nightmare if the government-sanctioned thieves managed to loot a gun shop, more for the business owner than anyone.
Just think. We paid millions of dollars for Obama to jump on AF1 and fly to DC to deliver this important message, sneak off to get a burger and cigarette without Moochelle seeing, then jump back on AF1 to head back to the golf course on Martha’s Vineyard.
