A protest is being planned for Sunday in front of Los Angeles police headquarters in downtown after a man was shot and killed by an officer this week in Florence.
The shooting occurred about 8:20 p.m. Monday after an officer conducted "an investigative stop" in the 200 block of West 65th Street, according to an LAPD news release. During the stop, a "struggle ensued" and the officer shot the person, whom police did not identify.
Family members identified the man as 24-year-old Ezell Ford, who they described as "mentally challenged." His mother, Tritobia Ford, told KTLA her son was complying with officers' orders, and that the shooting was unjustified.

LAPD. We'll treat you like a King!
We don’t need police officers who act like this or officers who shoot unarmed Americans. It does not surprise me in the least there are protests and riots in the streets. What does surprise me is any conservative that supports such police conduct.
A shiny badge does not give anyone the right to be above the law.
Nothing a police officer does gives anybody the right to harm another persons property. Whay surprises me is that supposed conservatives on FR seem to be supporting the rioting thugs. I hope you feel the same way when it’s your property being looted. Please remember to never call a cop if you are ever in need of one.
Bingo! How many of these people have ever been in a fight for their lives with someone? Almost all cops have.
The left is doing all it can to buzz up minorities for the election and because, let’s face it, Obama & his minions despise white people.
I notice not a bit of outrage over the recent incident where a black “teen” sucker punched a 71-yr-old white man just for the crime of being white.
I am so tired of this. If blacks (and others) hate cops so much, let them go off by themselves and have their own country. Then they can have as much or as little law enforcement as they choose.
Having fun with your anti-cop crap? Do a ride along with a cop sometime and see what they do. Doubt if you could do the job.
The difference is in that case Rodney King deserved it. He attacked the cops several times.
The media chose not to show that part of the tape.
Just more Frequent Air Miles for the Reverends Al and Jess.
My o’My how will they find the time?
I can only imagine the scenario. It will be like a heard of cats
trying to cover-up _hit!
Maybe so - I'm not that great at shooting dogs.
Probably not too good at breaking up riots, saving people from car wrecks, taking drunks off the road, arresting abusive boyfriends, maintaining your cool when arresting a child molester, and a number of other things, either.
Have you tried going on a ridealong, or would that interfere with your preconceived notions too much?
I’m also terrible at shooting unarmed children, throwing flash-bangs into babies’ cribs, lying to judges to get warrants, forcing colonscopies on people who walk funny...man, I could never be a cop. Maybe if I ‘roid up...
So you think all cops are like that? How about the thousands who do their job every day and for not much pay? Would you like to be a target on the job for 8 hours a day? That’s what wearing a police uniform does for you. Feel comfortable making a split second decision that could cost you your life or take someone else’s?
Still won’t do the ridealong?
Exactly!
In the several CCW classes I have attended in three states, all taught by active duty or ex-LEO, they all emphasized that any time a person goes for a police officer's sidearm, it is always considered that the intent is to take the firearm and kill the officer.
In one class, the instructor said that if a CCW holder shoots a person in the act of taking a police officer's weapon, he pretty much will never be prosecuted.
Nope. But the one who are deserve a spotlight.
Join the ping list, you'll find that when a cop behaves extraordinarily well, he gets a "Not a JBT ping", and a graphic of Andy and Barney.
Too many of the former, and not enough of the latter, unfortunately.
Point to where I said any of that liar!
My buddy sitting beside me who is a police detective, just laughed and called you a moron.
